Marjorie Taylor Greene believes generating electricity from “wind turbines and solar

You attacked Mr. MTG because that is what you are want to do. You still don't know shit about "green" energy.

How did I attack her? She was being Captain Obvious about the solar power. Maybe her followers are too retarded to understand it and she took advantage of that?

I have a good cred in life. They cannot touch me.

Me too....plus I'm fully retired and am in full fun mode.

Renewables are hugely less energy dense than fossil fuels, are inherently unreliable so need fossil fuel backup, need very expensive storage, need far more complex grid switching and need vastly greater land area, how can they ever be cheaper? Just isn’t remotely possible, even if we do get richer.

I assume what you mean by 'fossil fuels' is coal, oil, or natural gas. None of them are fossils. Fossils aren't used for fuel. Fossils don't burn.

Oil and natural gas are both renewable energy. Coal we don't know, but it is certainly plentiful. It probably is.
Wind is the 2nd most expensive method of generating electricity. As you correctly note, it requires huge tracts of land.
Solar is the most expensive method. Both wind and solar are piddle power.
(cost is watt for watt)

It is not possible to store large amounts of electricity. It has to be generated on demand. Of course, demand goes up just as the Sun goes down and people start lighting their homes and cooking dinner. Solar or wind aren't going to help anyone there.

There is no 'grid switching'. Switches on power lines are there for maintenance purposes or as fuses, nothing more.

As demand shifts in the grid, supply must keep up. One of the easiest ways to change generating capacity at a power station is to vent steam or water around the turbine, rather than through it. This is what coal, oil, and natural gas power plants do.
In hydroelectric power, they simply let water flow around the turbine rather than through it. The deflection vanes are controlled by computer. They are amazingly fast and responsive.
