30% of the electricity that California consumes isn't even made in California and they still cannot get enough to prevent blackouts. Then they want to add millions of cars to the grid. Maybe they are just tired of having people leave California and if the can't charge their cars the won't be able to leave the state.

The point, which idiots like Zappas are incapable of comprehending is that California will not be able to produce sufficient electricity to even charge your cars. Today, they don't produce enough. Imagine when there are ten million new electric vehicles plugged in.
They don't comprehend the nasty business and energy consuming process of creating highly toxic batteries. Their waste when they are depleted and the replacement costs, running from $15K to $25K.
Most of the natural resources to make these batteries come from third world shit holes like China. So-called "green" energy sources will never be sufficient to create the power needed for a modern growing economy.

When I left California several years ago, they struggled to keep the lights on. Most homes only have about 100 amp services. .It takes 30-50 amps to charge an EV at Level 2.
The National Electrical Code also requires that an electrical circuit be rated 25% greater amperage than your Charger’s output. For example, to buy a 40-amp Level 2 charger, you’ll need a 50-amp circuit breaker.
What all this means is that most homes will have to spend thousands to add an additional panel to handle the increased service on top of the added cost for an EV. Demand for new cars in California is about 2 million. Imagine for a moment, that everyone complies and buys new EVs. I'm still researching the impacts it will have on the power grids of the nation.
Hope your not in a hurry too. It takes at least 8 hours at level 2 to charge an EV.
