While midterms are generally viewed as a referendum on the sitting president and his party, Biden and other Democratic leaders have instead sought to reframe the upcoming elections as a test of American democracy itself. Democrats believe that, if Americans view the elections as a choice between extremists threatening their fundamental rights and candidates seeking to protect those vulnerable freedoms, then the party may be able to maintain their congressional majorities. In Democrats’ view, a historic election calls for a history-defying result.

I'm going to try and talk to you like an adult. What "vulnerable" freedoms of mine do you think democratic candidates in the midterms are looking to protect? You're suggesting that democrats are the party of freedom and democracy?

Your right to parent your children as you think best, the right of schools and parents to decide what books are available to students, the right of schools and parents to decide what to teach and not have state legislatures dictate what cannot be discussed in the classroom, the right of freedom of the press from those who consider it an enemy of the people, the right of private social media sites to decide who can post and what can be posted without government interference, the right of private cruise lines to require a vaccination of passengers when they are traveling to a location that requires the shots before entering, the right of expert state employees to testify in legislative hearings even if their views conflict with political decisions.....

You're missing the biggest one...the right of women to control their own bodies.

His little speech from Hell the other night blew up in his face. There was a lot of pushback and he started to back peddle almost immediately.

How did it do that?

You people can't get any more outraged than you already are.

Maybe stop doing fascism.

I would just add to your list: The right to make medical decisions for yourself w/o govt. interference. The right to vote without onerous restrictions and requirements. The right to be free of gun violence in our places of worship, education, entertainment venues, and shopping. The right to drive/jog/shop/eat while black w/o being gunned down.

True, but that has to be done at the state level. The midterm election is unlikely to change the make-up of many states.

Women couldn't really control their own bodies under Roe after 24 weeks.

Trump has a more than 90% approval rating amongst Republicans and any republican who doesn't support the America First agenda shouldn't be welcome in the GOP to begin with.

True, but there is very little any state/federal action can to about most of those issues. The Democrats will lose the House and states determine voting requirements. They can pass some laws but not any that will actually prevent gun violence or police abuse. Any laws can just punish after they happen.

I live in Texas and although voting requirements were tightened it is still very easy to vote.
