Be sure never to look beyond a headline if you're an incurious Right winger. Simple mindedness will save you every time. The first question this thread raises is why is the reef having to recover in the first place; i.e., what is it recovering from if not bleaching caused by rising ocean temperatures. While parts of the reef have recovered during a two year let up in temperatures other parts have not and the long term outlook for the reef depends as in the past on the coming annual ocean temperatures.

Plenty of reasons Smarty! Agricultural runoff from farmland, Crown of Thorns starfish (COT) that love to eat coral, to name but two. The COT grows up to half a metre across and can devour 10 square meters of coral a year.
