I think a drive to remove oil as the means of transportation energy would be in order. Instead work towards using domestic resources of Natural Gas (which we have plenty of).

However, that being said, a reduction in the need for foreign energy will make the US a safer place in the end.

No, you are supporting sending our treasure overseas to other producers. There is no possible way even if we were drilling full-tilt on what we have that we could produce enough oil for our uses. We could, however, produce enough natural gas.
