The Biden administration swung back Thursday at Republican critics of its recently announced student-loan forgiveness policy — including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida — by highlighting how much they themselves benefited from federal debt cancellation during the pandemic in the form of Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiveness.

President Joe Biden doubled down on his claim that Republicans like Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene are hypocrites for opposing his cancellation of student debt while taking Paycheck Protection Program during the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Thursday evening, the White House’s Twitter account lit into the Georgia Republican after she criticised the White House’s announcement to forgive up to $10,000 in student loan debt and $20,000 in debt for Pell Grant recipients .

“I found it absolutely fascinating that some of the folks who are talking about this is big spending are the same people who got $158k in PPP money including what’s her name, that woman who believes — anyway,” he said.

“A whole lot of Republicans got a lot of money. The very people who criticise it.”

This week Ms Greene retweeted claims that wearing masks causes lung cancer, brain damage and Covid.

I'm firmly opposed to this student loan forgiveness. But also was against PPP forgiveness. Not surprised to see MTG (whose construction business wasn't even shut down during the lockdown in Georgia because construction firms were exempt, which makes her use of PPP very sketch) is a hypocrite who is glad to saddle us with her debt and complain about others saddling her with their debt
