Between October and December of that year, his approval fell to 35% on three separate occasions as Justice Department officials charged several of Trump's 2016 campaign figures with crimes in the Russia investigation, including former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to officials in the investigation in December 2017.

Yeah, his 41 points means he's still the least popular president at this point of his tenure. 75% of the country thinks things are going in the wrong direction.

Just like "gas prices are down" isn't fooling anybody, so too is this also not fooling a single person. This is the leftist activists desperate attempt to try to make their base feel better when they know they are losing in the mid terms even with the craptacular candidates the republicans picked for Senate.

All we've heard all year is what a '94-type landslide November is going to be for Republicans.

But man, are they blowing it. Overturning Roe, continuing to bow to Trump, not letting go of election denial (and having more than a few nutter candidates run on that as part of their platform) - they're not giving voters a viable alternative.

The party out of power almost always picks up seats in the mid-term - but if I had to guess today, I think it will be a pretty tepid margin of victory of the GOP.

It's possible that it won't be "huge", but I still believe you will see at least one house of congress flip and the other be so close to be tough to play partisan. A feeble minded pResident who "surged" to 41% after a "string of successes" notwithstanding...
