On Wednesday, President Joe Biden announced a plan to cancel $10,000 of student loan debt for low- and middle-income American families. Analysis from the Penn Wharton Budget Model reported that this could result in a $300-$900 billion increase in taxes over the next few years.

According to OpenSecrets, more than $130 million has been spent lobbying on education policies since 2021 by numerous prominent colleges. The colleges may profit from a decrease in student loan defaults, and some benefits of the handout for student loans "might be captured by colleges themselves in the form of higher prices (both tuition and net)," the Wharton study stated......

Colleges have been bloating and profiting massively since when Uncle Sugar first agreed to back student loans in the 90s.

These college graduates who are being subsidized will earn approximately 1 million dollars more, over a lifetime, than those who are subsidizing them.

BTW, just who do you suppose covers the costs of Pell grants? That would be all of us taxpayers. Those of us who understand how things work consider this an investment in our children and in our future. Those of you who don't resent education because smart ppl seldom vote for whackjobs like you all prefer.

What this "gift" does is help destroy moral and ethical responsibility. Setting precedents that contracts are meaningless is ass backwards.
If you sign up for loans, you are responsible for paying them off not other taxpayers. If I were a parent or student that followed the rules and took extra jobs to pay their loans, I would be pissed as hell.
I would tell you to fuck off but that is not harsh enough.

Agreed, but don't forget the Republicans. Trump's stimulus checks, child tax credits, and targeted tax cuts bought a lot of votes--that is why he delayed the stimulus checks until he could sign them. Both parties are fiscally irresponsible.

Americans spent all their stimulus checks and now complain about inflation partially caused by the influx of all that money in the economy.

Those payments are coming from citizen A's pocket and give to citizen B to spend. I'm pretty sure citizen A would prefer to spend their own money and let citizen B pay their own bills. The money ins up in the economy either way.
