Believe it or not, I actually have to agree with your take on this ad (and I come from a position of liking DeSantis).
I found this ad to be rather cringeworthy, coming across as forced/inauthentic. What this ad tells me is that DeSantis is now being managed by professional RNC club types and is being offered up to people as the managed "electable" (IOW, "acceptable to the RNC club") alternative to Trump in 2024.
Ron DeSantis, staging in 2022 for a 2024 Presidential run = Ted Cruz, staging in 2014 for a 2016 Presidential run. Like it was with Cruz, DeSantis will be used to pull the MAGA vote away from Trump (if they can't get Trump destroyed before then). Both the DNC and the RNC hate Trump with a passion because his economic policy is an America First nationalist one that benefits the working class on Main Street instead of the DNC/RNC "elites" on Wall Street.
The MAGA wing of the Republican Party need to learn the tricks of the RNC club and to not fall for them. DeSantis is a good governor who has done good things for Florida, and I'd gladly re-elect him for governor in a heartbeat if I lived in Florida, but he should stay there and not rise to the national level. He's not going to be effective on the national level like Trump was because DeSantis is being managed by the RNC club meanwhile Trump isn't willing to be controlled by the RNC club (which is why they hate him).
TLDR; In 2024, I will NOT be supporting nor voting for DeSantis for President and WILL be supporting and voting for Trump for President.
