The initial batch of documents retrieved by the National Archives from former President Donald J. Trump in January included more than 150 marked as classified, a number that ignited intense concern at the Justice Department and helped trigger the criminal investigation that led F.B.I. agents to swoop into Mar-a-Lago this month seeking to recover more, multiple people briefed on the matter said.

In total, the government has recovered more than 300 documents with classified markings from Mr. Trump since he left office, the people said: that first batch of documents returned in January, another set provided by Mr. Trump’s aides to the Justice Department in June and the material seized by the F.B.I. in the search this month.

The previously unreported volume of the sensitive material found in the former president’s possession in January helps explain why the Justice Department moved so urgently to hunt down any further classified materials he might have.

I know Damo explained kinda how to get around it, but I didn't understand how. I remember it involved noscript.

I think you get 3 free articles/month. If you've clicked NYT links here already, I believe clearing cookies will give you 3 more.

Been there, done that. Damo knows a way to stop the javascript "block window", but I didn't understand the directions.

@damocles

It’s amazing he didn’t return them after they asked or in response to the subpoena.

Call me when you know how many Obama has.

If he has any it’s because he went through proper protocol to get them by allowing the government to catalog and document them then evaluate the risk of LENDING them to his library foundation that assured the government they would be kept properly preserved. Like every other president who didn’t think he was above the law.

Says who?

Just use archive.ph/

copypasta the link into the second box to search for already saved snapshots of the page you want to see, usually if it's a major paper site like Wapo or NYT someone's already saved it and you don't need to use the first box (which can take a bit of time to save).

That works like a charm, thanks!

And after reading it, this looks like they really really don't have him this time.

Why didn't the FBI dude Jay Bratt take everything he thought should be taken in June? He was offered it.

Trump was cooperating. What's the reason for the goon raid, hmm? Did the FBI send somebody in to steal classified documents at Trump's house on

camera so they have a "gotcha"? This whole thing is fishier than a Chinese fishing Super-ship. You know, like they caught off the coast of South America

stealing their resources? THIS is why I do not buy Wal-Mart fish.

WRONG. HE HAD DOCUMENTS THAT HE HAD ALREADY DECLASSIFIED.

I believe in equal application of the law.

Sue Me.

What makes you think it has not been applied equally?

You just throw baseless claims and them claim unequal application of the law so you have something to try to defend Trump with.
