Holy fuck, who'd want to fly on Ethiopian Airlines?

Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET343 was supposed to touch down at 6:20 a.m. in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, after a two-hour flight from Khartoum, Sudan, the Aviation Herald reported.

However, air traffic control in Ethiopia’s capital noticed that instead of descending for the final approach, the jet — which has a 154-seat capacity — remained at a cruising altitude of 37,000 feet.

Controllers made multiple attempts to contact the pilots, but to no avail.

An Ethiopian Airlines flight overshot a runway on Aug. 15 after both of the plane’s pilots fell asleep at the controls.

Ethiopian Airlines has suspended both pilots pending an investigation.

They have a huge problem with over stressing their pilots

They over work them to the breaking point

Go read about it racist fuck

How can both pilots fall asleep on a short 2 hour flight?

Note their landing time was 0620 meaning their takeoff time was about 0420 which means they probably woke up at about 0300. What time did they go to bed the night before? What was their circadian rhythm pattern? Operating on the backside of the clock is a common pilot fatigue issue.

From your link:
“Pilot fatigue is nothing new, and continues to pose one of the most significant threats to air safety — internationally,” he tweeted.

It's happened a few times in the US and elsewhere.

It's called "pilot greed" ... ask former bomber pilot and coalminer, Aviator "Shades" Joe about it.

You're a fucking moron who doesn't have a fucking clue on why airplanes can fly. Go suck a micro-penis, dipshit.

Who knows best if they are fit to fly ... or not? ... the individual pilots.

Both the individual pilots and airline management are responsible for the fitness of the crews, the fitness of the aircraft and the safety of the passengers.

If a Walmart truck driver falls asleep, crosses the center line and hits a bus full of nuns, who's responsible? The driver? Yes. Walmart? Yes.

The pilots acted irresponsibly because they wanted that paycheck, ... just like the truck driver.

Thus proving, once again, you're a fucking moron.

You claim to be an ex commercial pilot, ... yet you don't know there are strict sleep requirement regulations for pilots? :palm:

Odds are the investigation will show these pilots disobeyed Ethiopia's sleep regulations.

Yes, but those standards vary by country. What were their standards, pup?

Possible. An investigation can also show these pilots were on reserve and got called out for this flight with 5 hours notice. A flight that began about 0300. What was their circadian rhythm prior to flight?

It's no big deal.
Airline pilots (and doctors, for that matter) are - often - ridiculously overworked.
I am not surprised in the slightest that both of them fell asleep.

And so what?
The plane didn't crash...it just landed a few minutes late.

I GUARANTEE you it happens in EVERY, major airline.
FAR more often than is reported.
