Next week, with 0 Republican votes (likely) The DEMOCRATS and JOE BIDEN will deliver on one of donald trumps promises, by lowering the price of prescription drugs.

Trump promised a massive infrastructure bill, but it took a Democratic president to make it happen.

Trump was too stupid to understand policy, and he was too lazy to practice governance.

I do not think he understood that he as president was not a king with absolute power, I think he was shocked when they told him on day one.
 
They also tried to claim the good economy and budget reductions Clinton presided over

And if the drug companies can't make money on a particular drug the government regulates the price of below market value, then you won't be able to get that drug at all....

If Big Pharma is not happy with the price then they will simply stop supplying.

This is not a solution.
 
We see this exact same fantasy in talks of price capping Russian crude and gas, there is an assumption that Russia will still provide because they are still making money.

So you are saying that the drug companies are losing money on those drugs in Canada, Europe and much of Asia so when the US gets the same pricing the drug company will decide to not lose money? That doesn't make much sense because it would mean the US is the only thing propping up those companies.

What happens is drug companies will slow or stop research on many new drugs simply because they can't recover the costs of development. In countries with strict price controls on drugs, most new ones are unavailable because of this high pricing to recover costs. So, the US gets the brunt of that right now. Older drugs that have generic counterparts are much cheaper. It is these newer drugs that drive costs up.

With price controls, drug companies simply won't develop as many drugs as they have been.

hmm..... speculation as to whether drug companies won't develop drugs is nothing more than speculation.
But it appears you don't have a clue as to what is really in the bill.
It allows medicare to negotiate drug prices. Unless you think everyone in the US is on medicare your argument is specious.
Then the bill also restricts the number of drugs that are allowed to be negotiated per year and doesn't allow for any negotiation until 2027.

So because Medicare negotiates a price for 7 drugs in the US, you think the drug manufacturers will stop all research? That's interesting since many of the major drug manufacturers are headquartered overseas.

17.8% of Americans are on Medicare / aid. That means one of two things. Medicare / aid recipients get a break on prices while everybody else gets screwed to make up for that, or drug companies cut something else out to reduce their costs and keep their bottom line right where it is.
