First Jan. 6 defendant convicted at trial receives longest sentence of 7 years

Thus proving they are not as Christian as their avowed beliefs. It goes with the concept "Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil". By condoning lies, they are supporting lies.

Agreed, but that is certainly nothing unique to Christianity. Most people fail to live up to all the things their religion teaches. I don't know any Christians who "take up serpents" or any Jews that stone misbehaving children, but many try to follow religious principles and do good works.

I am not religious but sometimes attend church with my wife and when there is a flood, hurricane, or other disaster the church members are there with their boats to save people off rooftops, rebuild churches and homes, help people with financial problems or console them when needed.

I don't think a person who helps rebuild a home for an old widow is a bad person because he believes Trump's lies and is certainly making a better world than those of us who spend hours on a message board condemning others who disagree with our politics.

Which goes back to the less-than-average IQ and/or mental stability. Most people are good. It's the violent loudmouths who make others look bad.

They lost which means our system worked very well--thankfully.

True, but is this over? Will they try again? Trump and the Republicans are still pushing the Big Lie and undermining our government, our law enforcement agencies and our military.

Trump goes unpunished. And his movement is getting stronger.

The health of the system is much more important than one person. His defeat is the best thing that could happen.

Democrats made a big mistake by financially supporting the election deniers in the Republican primary. They beat two Republican incumbents who voted for impeachment. Democrats are helping elect the crazies (unless their strategy works).

Good question. Trump may not still have the same strength but those whose politics consists primarily of conspiracy theories don't seem to be going away. It is more interesting, fun, and dramatic and makes people think they know what is really going on. Baby boomers see things getting worse which is typical of the older generation but this is a growing group.

They think things are getting worse for nefarious reasons controlled by globalists, liberals, and secret deals with China. And, it probably indicates the end of the world (after the coming depression).

The system is not healthy.

Exactly. They'll ramp up the rhetoric, like Kari Lake is already doing, and one or more nutjobs will take it too seriously. It's like they want violence to happen but also maintain plausible deniability. They won't be happy until a lot of Americans are dead.

Groups of fanatics have been predicting the end of the world for 2000 years. This is the first time we had elected a President who was trying to make it happen.

No idea what you mean. Trump got 5 people killed and 150 cops seriously injured. So far, he goes unpunished.

The riot was stopped, 800 charged, and the electoral vote count and verification of the election completed and Biden became president. That is the system surviving. Whether Trump was punished is less important. Were you upset because Hillary was not punished for her emails?

The only thing that is important is Trump being prosecuted.

Trump attempted a violent coup.

Then AG Garland should take action. Since the right believes the FBI and "deep state" are Democrats you would think they would actively investigating and preparing charges. Our laws purposely make it difficult to charge and convict people of such crimes.
