528,000 jobs added in July

Jobs report: U.S. economy adds 528,000 jobs in July, unemployment rate falls to 3.5%

The U.S. labor market remained robust in July, even as the Federal Reserve tightened monetary conditions and a growing number of companies scaled back on hiring and announced layoffs.

Doesn't make sense.

I last got a 1200 dollar stimulus check from Biden 16 months ago, and I believe enhanced unemployment benefits discontinued at the end of 2021 eight months ago.

I've lived through every recession since the 1970s, and I don't remember one where job growth was booming and unemployment was falling.
ill take the jobs, but if interest rates get where they need to be to stop inflation (typically at least 1 point over CPInumbers) that will be the tell

I don't dismiss that we face some economic risks, presumably that is why the Fed is being aggressive.

Hello Cypress,

That doesn't seem like a recession to me .

It's hard to claim a recession when the billionaires and mega corporations are making such high profits.

Prices have risen, but wages have not kept pace. Capitalists are making a killing. They love it.

If it is a recession, it is only a recession for those who are struggling to make ends meet.

The millionaires and billionaires who corruptly control our government, and the way the right thinks, are not worried about it.

At all.

Hello Cypress,

The MAGA contingent has been claiming economic disaster since at least March, if not earlier.

They just want anything that makes Biden and Democrats look bad. Even if it is bad for the economy. Their partisanship is more important to them than their patriotism.

Hello Cypress,

They just want anything that makes Biden and Democrats look bad. Even if it is bad for the economy. Their partisanship is more important to them than their patriotism.

12 years ago, they practically guaranteed me that Obamacare would crash the economy.

Several jobs were lost when Chipotle closed a store because workers were conducting a unionization effort.

Chipotle permanently shutters store that filed to unionize

"New York (CNN Business)Chipotle permanently closed a restaurant in Augusta, Maine that filed to form a union last month.

A hearing on whether to proceed with the representation vote was scheduled for Tuesday, according to Jeffrey Young, attorney for Chipotle United, the independent union attempting to organize the Augusta location, but workers learned on Tuesday morning that the store will be shut down for good. The hearing has been postponed indefinitely, Young said.
Young described the closure as "union busting 101," adding "it's meant to discourage not just the workers here, but ... other Chipotle organizing efforts elsewhere."

Chipotle workers in Augusta filed an unfair labor charge with the NLRB Tuesday. "

Republicans could be in for a surprise in the mid-terms.

Trump's 1/6 hearings, the Alex Jones trial, election deniers winning primaries - is the GOP really any kind of alternative right now?

Meanwhile, gas prices are going down, people are getting jobs, and even inflation is set to go down by up to 6% next year. Hmmmmm.....maybe Biden isn't doing the disastrous job that they keep trying to portray?

Jobs report: U.S. economy adds 528,000 jobs in July, unemployment rate falls to 3.5%

That was far from the only good news in Friday’s release.

“Wage growth also surged higher, as average hourly earnings jumped 0.5% for the month and 5.2% from the same time a year ago,” CNBC notes. “Despite downbeat expectations, the July gains were the best since February and well ahead of the 388,000 average job gain over the past four months.

More jobs created during the Biden presidency than the last three Republican administrations added up together

"Put that recession talk away, and change the subject. A vibecession ain’t no recession: July payrolls came in at a huge +528k, and unemployment is down to 3.46%, the lowest in half a century." --> Economist Justin Wolfers, University of Michigan

"Amazing job growth, strong & sustainable wage growth, and slowing inflation: WE ARE NOT IN A RECESSION.” --> Economist David Rothschild

Economists cheered the results, with even those often more pessimistic finding the jobs report excellent news.

Overall, many made clear there is no recession, and predicted inflation will come under control as the Federal Reserve raises interest rates, and as the price of gas has dropped tremendously, with some stations now selling at under $3.00 a gallon.
