We are not building/maintaining infrastructure. That includes not just physical stuff, but also education, and research. Our road system is collapsing, and we are not even building high speed rail. It just feels like we are a society in gradual decline.
That is not my experience. You have no problem posting, so the internet has not collapsed. There are obvious dangers to the internet, but it is still functioning. That goes for the rest of society.
I can no longer take a supersonic flight to Europe, but I can still take a flight to Europe. America no longer has a government manned space craft, the last functioning one being designed 50 years ago, and discontinued 10 years ago, but we still have satellites working fine.
