California Surplus - Stimulus

Yep. It is going to be bad either way.
You can't select a senile old man and expect good to follow. Biden has a 50 year history of voting for war and banksters. Dems are in denial of Joe's treatment of Anita Hill and his 1994 crime bill.

LOL. Good one.

California has the highest gas prices in the country. It's not because we're unlucky or any other nefarious reason. It's a policy choice. And many people here accept the trade off of higher gas prices and higher energy prices in exchange for environmental policies they support. Other states make different choices and their gas costs are (much) lower.

Due to federal funding along with a booming stock market last year (along with growing economy opening up after COVID) we have a very large surplus (due to the market crash this year and stumbling economy we are about to have a very large deficit next year and likely the following year but that's another discussion). So of course there is debate over how much do we spend of the surplus and how much do we save knowing these deficits are right around the corner.

Back to the states. Pick any random numbers. Let's say gas in California costs $100/mnth and gas in another state costs $70/mnth. And because of our surplus California is giving back the equivalent of $3/mnth in a refund. I mean, $3 is $3. It's not nothing. But yet people are saying what is your Governor doing compared to what we're doing in California as if the $3 rebate somehow offsets all other policies that create the $30 difference.

It's interesting to observe the mindset because clearly it's one held by enough people that it drives policy.

elitist detached drivel.

Yes. So the GQP needs to move on and face the music.

Black Cat, I notice you have changed your avator.

Is the new avatar intended to depict you gazing on with approval while you watch the BLM Inc. riots of 2020 exploding in some Democrat "Dung Heap" like Portland , say, or Seattle when the city PD's 3rd Precinct went up in flames?

If so, "BLACK CAT - CLEAN UP YOUR ACT" !!

Wait,.... maybe there's another way to interpret you new avatar. Is what we see you lookindg at in the image supposed to represent what its like inside your brain ? (i.e. lots of chaotic, out-of-control ,shit flying about everwhere at a zillion miles an hour, 24/7 ?).

Do Tell, BC !

I believe the logical answer to that question is, not overcharging you for gasoline in the first place........

I mentioned that in the post. That’s essentially the core of all this. It’s like Newsom kicked your *ss and took all your money, but hey he gave you a free bus pass so you could get home. And people are celebrating the bus pass.

How come there's no official government health warnings about the 1000's of piles of poop people are depositing in the public domain of major urban regions. Like in parks, outside schools, businesses, government offices, libraries and even the fresh cheese aisles of Walmart and Costco stores (I even heard some scoundrel - a "Bum Bandit" as they call them in Ca - perpetrated a "hit and run" in a McDonald's restaurant in South Central LA because his "Slushie" was half - melted when he collected it from the counter girl! ).

Now,... this proligate public pooping in San Francisco, LA, Sacramento, Comptom, West Hollywood, Oakland, etc, etc; is no laughing matter! Onc these piles of poo dry out, they become friable and release tiny poop particles (like motes of dust) into the air, and if children happen to breathe any of these toxic particles of poop dust in, they are immediately placed at high risk for acquiring a serious (possibly lethal) disease /s !!

What I find remarkable about the whole situation is that Gavin Newsome has no qualms about: Californians crapping and urinating all over the place; shooting up "Class A" drugs (supplied free by the tax-payer along with crack pipes, syringes and other drug-use paraphenalia); residents having sex "al fresco" ( and not always of the "vanilla" variety!) on sidewalks, in parks; beach fronts; public transportation; in the vicinity of tourist attractions; in K-Mart stores, etc; effectively legalising street prostitution; allowing residents to toss domestic trash onto insanitary heaps, where it quickly rots, festers and then becomes a haven for swarms of disease-carrying rats., and so on.

But what would Gavin Newsome have to say if his historic, Governor's Mansion in Sacramento regularly had turds strewn all over the front lawn, if oi polloi began pissing on his rose bushes; if addicts were throwing their used "spikes" into the grounds of his children's expensive, private schools; or there was a high liklihood of hibeing offered a$20 blow-job by female transexual hookers every time he walked his pet dog around the block in the mornings. How would he like coming home to find "hairy fairies "in the front entrance to the his Mansion butt-holing each other?

I don't think his Lordship would be very impressed at all (?)

since you already know this surplus is an anomaly and will roll back to normal next year, do they really even have a surplus ?

the obvious course of action is to bank it.

The surplus is real (if you don’t include pension liabilities etc.). The thing in California is there is no normal so to speak. Due to the nature of our system (high taxes on rich and capital gains) we often swing between extremes. When market and economy is good we are flush and when it’s not we are in a massive hole.

Some politicians recognize that and push for larger rainy day funds but many are others are like F it, YOLO, I’m spending this b*tch now (because it helps my re-election).
