Tell me there's no racism in America after this!

Now this site is loaded with those who continuously try to justify and rationalize everything from slavery to current attacks on Civil Rights by "conservative" folks in Congress, to why Neo-Nazi's are just misunderstood.

Well, in Maryland we've got enough of these folks in the local GOP to get the following situation. Classic.

Neo-Nazi and Holocaust Denier Wins GOP Nomination for Illinois Congressional Seat

Fits well with the America hating Omar who married her brother, evaded paying her taxes, and when caught and questioned, screeches Muslim harer, racist, and misygonist.

The POINT is that you have a constituency of registered GOP voters who keep putting him back on the local ballot. The GOP may give lip service, but it seems the RNC is suddenly powerless to keep him off their party's ballot.

This is why I stand by the subject title of this thread...because the MAGA movement sure as hell resonates here, as with the rhetoric regarding such candidates.

Don’t you complain about the DNC f’ing Bernie? Should political parties have total control of who can or can’t run for office?

I have no idea how this works. According to your article the Republican Party didn’t want him to run but he got enough signatures so he was eligible. Then they campaigned against him.

I’m still not seeing how this ties into anything else

Not a very good comparison, because Sanders was NEVER a Neo-Nazi or White Supremacist....Jone's beliefs having a history of hatred and deadly violence against anyone who disagrees with them or they don't like in general. What happened to Sanders had to deal with the old Dem guards allegiance to the military industrial complex and it's corporate donors.

Our Constitution and laws forbid using the gov't to harm citizens....Jones advocates just that by his rhetoric and proud affiliations. So, RNC would be well within their rights to expel/ban him from the Party if he were a congressman.

But by the law, they can't keep him from being a registered republican in his private life. And since the local GOP leadership publicly denounces him, I like you am amazed that the local republican voters keep putting him up for candidacy. Technically as I see it, Jones should be a "write in" candidate on an Independent line at best.

Just goes to show that true hatred and bigotry in this country never truly dies.

I've never worked with a political party so I don't know what the rules are as far as being able to kick a candidate out of a race if they qualify for the ballot.

I'd like to hear from a local in Chicago on the backstory. Did those who voted for him know he was this P.O.S.? Or did they have no idea who he was and chose him because he has an R next to his name?

When he got signatures to qualify for the ballot did he tell people he was this big racist? Or did he hide all that and simply say I'm a Republican running for office?

As to your last sentence, that will never go away - no matter where you are in the world. That's just part of the human condition. That's not to say we should just accept it and its justifiable but if (speaking specifically of America) having a population of well over 300 million people from all over the globe there is zero chance they'll be no hatred or bigotry in the country.

(Sadly just read this board and how many people here wish death upon each other because they disagree politically.)

things change...usually brought on by natural situations that cannot be ignored. You and I may not live to see it, but I do think that eventually there will be a peace .... there may not be a "United States" that we recognized, but there will be peace and an end to generational hatred & bigotry.

One of the many benefits of travelling is learning about different cultures (I know, stating the obvious) but it's interesting to hear the locals talk about their hatred and even bigotry within their country. Again, I'm not saying this to justify it any way but its clearly something exists outside the U.S. and across the globe. Generally speaking I like to think of myself as a positive person but this isn't something I think is going to be eradicated. It's too engrained into human nature and in some places there have been centuries of hate and bigotry towards each other. (I'm also not suggesting it's not something we should stop working to at least lower the amount of it. But it's not going away.)

Crimes need punishing

Any party that courts the racists as voters should be buried in a deep dark hole

The Republican Party has done that all my life

Purely anecdotal but since we’re shooting the sh*t. Years ago I was trying to date this Mexican girl when I was in LA. She told me her sister was close to getting engaged to her BF and her father was absolutely livid. Turned out the BF was from El Salvador and the father had a derogatory name for people from El Salvador and thought he was below his daughter being from there.

Again, purely anecdotal but I’m willing to bet this father isn’t the only one who has thoughts or beliefs like that. Trying to get large numbers of people like that to change? Therein lies the challenge. You want to go down as a great man in history? Figure out how to get people to do so. Haha.

It’s an idea

That other humans are lessor for whatever idiot reason used

Education and logic can overcome it

But racists dont believe that

Again, not denying that bigotry is a global thing....and hate will hold onto dear life rather than capitulate to harmony. Once ingrained in a society, people may not even be aware of their subliminal prejudices. I haven't traveled globally, but I've been fortunate to meet many people from different parts of the world for periods of time to know this.

But things change: despite the threat of familial and/or social expulsion or violence (even death), inter-racial/inter-faith/inter-ethnic/inter-caste/inter-nationalism couples become lovers, partners, married couples. As Whoopee Goldberg once said, "it happen, it' happening and it's going to happen whether you like it or not". Right now, even the advertising industry recognizes this, and are changing their products because they don't want to miss out on potential bucks. Change will come, and hate & prejudice will go kicking and screaming to the back of the bus. It's just a matter of time and circumstance.

As the old saying goes, Keep the Faith, Baby!

Cawacko likes racism

He pretends not to

But he never goes after the racists

Instead he pisses on we who hate racists

Don't be too sure.

There are doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. who have been or are members of neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups, as well as "5 percenters" and the original Nation of Islam.

As the late, great comedian reminded an audience, "Intellect was used to come up with the Final Solution".

So education does not make a moral and righteous person.
