Maybe a little of both. I kind think many MAGAs sensed their shit was getting old and the "red tsunami" prognostications from the MAGAs was mostly wishful thinking and hope that perhaps Democrat voters would believe the hype and not vote.

Even had Evers lost, he would have remained governor until January... BUT, he did not lose. Wisconsin chose to reelect Governor Evers, so no new governor for a while to come.
But in a more general sense Stone is right. At some point after November, Wisconsin will have a new governor. In fact, it will have many new governors, one after another. A hundred years from now, they will have a governor who probably has not even been born yet.
I mean Evers has got to get bored and retire sooner or later, right? He can't just keep defeating Republicans elections after election, every time by a bigger margin, can he? I mean he is a great governor, but not immortal?
