INDIANAPOLIS – Doctors across the country helped raised about $180,000 for an Indiana University obstetrician-gynecologist pay for security and legal expenses after she became a focal point in the abortion debate over providing the procedure to a 10-year-old rape victim.

On Friday, supporters launched fundraisers to help Bernard with security fees and legal costs she has assumed while facing public scrutiny.

Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky announced Friday it would also provide Bernard with security services and assistance with legal fees.

"We stand in solidarity with Dr. Bernard and all providers who continue to deliver compassionate, essential care to patients, even in the face of attacks from anti-abortion extremists," CEO Rebecca Gibron wrote in a statement.

Indiana AG says he's 'gathering the evidence' on Bernard
As news of Bernard's account spread, it became a target for conservative Fox News hosts, as well as the attorneys general of Ohio and Indiana, who went on the television network to question the validity of Bernard's story.

Since then, an Ohio man has since been charged in the rape of the 10-year-old girl.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita also questioned whether Bernard had violated Indiana law by failing to report the abortion and that the child had been abused. Documents obtained by IndyStar show that Bernard did report the procedure and the abuse on time.

If she failed to report the rape of a child she needs to be punished.

There is an onoing investigation...supposedly...Nothing on local news.... The Dr...who gave the girl the pills listed the alleged raptist as a 17 year old...Mother won't file charges...lots of unanswered questions...
 
Who cares who the rapist is or anything else involved the fact remains this little girl was raped and abortion should always be legal. WTF happened to this country going back in time when back ally abortions killed females because they were unsafe. And anyone who is against abortion needs to understand that being pregnant can in fact kill you. Not all pregnancies are wonderful. Too many people in this country are ignorant and rely on their religion to brain wash them. Abortion should always remain a choice..the pregnant females choice not your choice.

There is no Constitutional right to abortion.

It is not one of the enumerated powers.

Each state will determine whether abortion is lawful, not you.

Red States have idiots running the state and that's why you don't leave this kind of a decision up to them. Abortion is a choice and not the choice of a STATE!

In the "Dobbs" decision, the Fourteenth Amendment "Right to Privacy" and "Due Process" are not part of the abortion debate.

No other privacy rights are affected:

"The Solicitor General suggests that overruling Roe and Casey would
threaten the protection of other rights under the Due Process Clause.
The Court emphasizes that this decision concerns the constitutional
right to abortion and no other right. Nothing in this opinion should be
understood to cast doubt on precedents that do not concern abortion."

It's the Constitution and the Supreme Court decision that there is no Constitutional right for abortion (no enumerated Constitutional right to abortion) that prevails.

The 14th Amendment Due Process and Privacy do not apply to abortion. (Dobbs)

You do believe that the Supreme Court is the final arbiter and that we are a nation of laws, not interpretations by uneducated shade tree lawyers...like yourself.

You accepted the Roe vs. Wade decision but not this decision.

One more time....the courts should not be making a decision for a choice medical procedure. Does the courts make decisions on a man getting a vasectomy which stops creation all together? Abortion is a choice period. God chose to give woman a spontaneous abortion in the bible if they were not believers. He made that choice. In case you don't know a spontaneous abortion is a miscarriage and more woman in the world have those over abortions.
