"US Teachers Have Had It"

When kids can no longer receive an education from trained, educated professionals and instead must rely on their dumbass redneck/ignorant ghetto trash, dropout parents, they will grow up to be even stupider, unemployable jerks who will likely become alcoholics and drug abusers.

Countries like China and Japan will be eating our lunch.

I'd be surprised if the US is still a nation in 50 years.

We'll either be the ghetto shithole of the world or the jointly owned property of other countries.

My parents are 75 years old and the story they tell me is growing up their parents said eat all your food because you are lucky because kids in China and India are starving (or something like that). I have a five year old, my thought is she better get a damn good education because not only is she competing with other American kids but kids from China, India and around the world. Instead of updating our education system we are often stuck in the past and it will put out kids at a disadvantage.

America is still the greatest country on the planet and a beacon of hope for many. But it’s never a given things will stay that way so we must always work to stay on top. Many think how we handle our education system isn’t doing all it can to remain number one

We may need a century to recover from the violence Trump and the GOP unleashed on our nation.

America is crashing. The wanton destruction of the education system by the Regressives over many decades has a lot to do with how we got here.

Then why do so many from around the globe, including those who risk life and limb, continue to come here? That’s a rhetorical question that I previously answered. Seems like there’s very little bi-partisanship anymore but amazing how people on the right and left come together to write America’s obituary.

Do we have big challenges? Yes. Nothing we can’t overcome though. But keep spewing all the negativity

Because our government makes trillions of new dollars a year and hands it out, even to those who have no interest in working.....life is easy here.....for the moment.
 
Look at what happened to Argentina....That is America's future......its baked in now.....the Chinese will insist.

I worked in the public education system for about 12 years.

Substitute teaching after I retired from my former vocation.

The teachers and the system are fine, it's just some of the assholes they are forced to deal with and keep happy. And I'm talking both parents and students. And it all goes back to what I said earlier.... we have become a society of spoiled rotten assholes who have to be mollified and kowtowed to constantly. Offend some precious little turd and their precious turd parents will be in someone's face demanding an apology and threatening a lawsuit.

And of course, the school administrators are under orders from the gutless elected "leaders" at the local school board to belly crawl and say yes sir and yes ma'am and take the parents' side.

And on and on and on.....

When I was a kid in the 60's & 70's, if you got in trouble at school and pissed off your teacher, your mom & dad wanted to know what you did wrong and you'd better not do it again.

If we'd leave these people alone and let them do what they were trained to do, there'd be no problem.

I have no problem with telling them not to indoctrinate kids to some ideology, but that works all ways.

Neither liberal nor conservative nor Christian.

We have five currently-teaching educators in our family: a daughter, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, two nieces. Not a single one of them would agree with your stupid WOKE nonsense.

What concerns them? Parents who don't give a shit if their child is learning or not. Lack of resources for required curriculum (means they pay out of their own pockets for supplies). Administration that takes the side of lackadaisical parents over theirs. People like you who hate education and educators and see them as over-paid whiny-ass indoctrinating babysitters.

I hear you man. I guess depending on one’s perspective the changes you referenced are either progress or have made it harder for teachers to teach. (How we discipline etc.)

I can imagine three types of parents; those who don’t pay attention or don’t really give a sh*t, the totally over bearing ones and then those somewhere in between.

Not sure if you’re a big reader or have heard of this book but I found it absolutely fascinating. It’s by Jonathan Haidt called The Coddling of the American Mind. Highly recommend it and as a former teacher thought you might appreciate it
