Social media obviously requires far more active and stringent regulation. Perhaps a public corporation such as CPB should run it.
Social media does not appear to be a good institution to be run for profit.
All they are doing is promoting the most salacious participation in a plainly obvious effort to generate participation. All that does is encourage shock factor to flood the system with brainless teen age garbage. High quality participation is then diminished.
Capitalism trashes social media up.

btw, I notice from your posting history you have a lot of negative things to say about liberals. If you go off on me like that, I just won't talk to you. At all. And it will be permanent.
But just to be fair, I am giving you the same chance to be civil that I give everyone. Can you conduct a polite conversation as if you're talking to a friend who just happens to disagree with you?
I am willing to talk openly to anyone as long as it is mutually respectful. But funny thing. There is not a single Trump supporter in here who can conduct a pleasant conversation. They all seem to be so angry and full of hatred and vitriol. It is as if they are just looking for someone to dump all of their frustration on. When they encounter a liberal, they can't resist blaming that person for everything they see wrong with the country. Somebody they don't even know. Doesn't matter. And it never ceases.
Why are the Trump supporters in here so angry and mean-natured? That doesn't represent well.
I don't have vitriol IRL (it's great!) and I don't want that out of a political discussion forum. I give everyone a chance to be nice, but if they aren't then I cut them off. Are you the exception? Can you actually talk one on one with someone who promises to be respectful to you? I have a reputation around here of not insulting anyone. You can count on me. I am not going to call you names or downtalk you. You can trust me and just really talk. Or you can go with the big front and unload on me. Your choice.

Should the entrepreneurial unit of the government have created all the various social media sites we use like Facebook, Twitter etc.?
How would the gov't run them differently? What would their business model be to sustain these sites?
