Beto: 13% Of Mail-In Ballots Were Rejected

Biometrics are (relatively) expensive compared to indelible dye. And anything on a computer can be hacked.

There could easily be some consideration for guns and the infirm/blind much as there needs to be for not crazy.

Sooo....no mail-in or early voting for anyone? Either you show up on Election Day or nothing?

Hello Dutch,

Surprising they don't want to dip thumbs in purple ink.

That's exactly what he's advocating as a 21st century American voting system; taking us back to pre-computer age and one-day voting for over 200,000,000 Americans.

With redistricting and controlling poll locations and numbers, the Republicans will be able to control the vote.

Will be able to?

They are already doing it.

They simply can never be satisfied, and always want more control over others.

Then they'll have more control than they do now by spreading to all 50 states.

The whole path leads directly to less freedom and a more powerful authoritarian state controlling the population.

This is what happens when Americans push both political parties to chip away at the Constitution.

"A republic, if you can keep it."

That depends on people being well informed and actively engaged.

We ain't got them boxes checked.

Agreed.

IMO, the main problem are two political parties that advocate division, not unification and common ground.

I see the Democrats arguing for common ground, talk, discussion, compromise as the Republicans refuse all of that and refuse to compromise one little bit on anything. And they also work to undermine the country while Democrats are in office just to make them look bad so they can use it in the next campaign.

Republicans: "Wait until the next election before giving a SCOTUS nominee the Constitutionally outlined confirmation process" (Unless the nominee is a Republican - then make up new rules as you go along, always to favor the power of your own party.)

You and I have had this discussion before; you're highly biased against anyone Right of center. Like them, you support an all-powerful Federal government to dictate your views upon all Americans. The only difference is you favor a LW agenda and they a RW one.

Sticking to the issues instead of talking about posters creates better political discussions.

Not being a hypocrite gains more respect in a political discussion.

Look at the JPP member advocating violence and reprisals. Are they being divisive or unifying?

Now consider those members who stereotype groups of people be it Jews, Blacks or Republicans. Divisive or unifying? The Democratic Party is as guilty of dividing America as the Republican Party. Just because the Republicans are better at stripping American rights than the Democrats doesn't absolve the Democratic Party of their actions and ideology. Same goes for their respective supporters.

The worse is yet to come. If you think the economy is bad now, then wait until Americans streets are covered in American blood because We, the People can't get along like civilized people.

If we want to get along like civilized people then name-calling and being judgemental should cease.

This is as good a place as any to let that begin. We cannot control others, but we can control what we do.

Agreed. Same for stereotyping because every time you attack all gun-owners you are attacking me. Get a clue, old girl.

i did say for in person
I fail to see the difference. You and I are discussing election security. Yes, a purple thumb is primitive but works. However, once you allow early voting and mail-in voting, that method becomes useless.

Example: Someone votes by mail-in and then tries to vote in-person a second time wouldn’t have a purple thumb.

if you register for absentee then you should not be permitted to vote in person. either or.

The computer system you said could be hacked is what tracks who has voted and who hasn't. Again, mail-in voting and early voting nullify the primitive purple thumb system. Either you trust the system to monitor voting or you don't.

I hate busy work. I'm hoping you do too. Mandating purple thumbs while allowing early voting and mail voting is busy work. It's useless. Better to spend the efforts and expense on monitoring the system itself.

For those who support personal freedom, individuality and State's Rights, that begins with the individual citizen, his/her town, county, state and finally the Feds.

Both parties seem to heavily favor the Feds over everything else. I disagree with them on the issue.

re early voting: I can sort of be ok with expanding voting from part of one day to perhaps as much as a week. with that them thumb inking works fine.
re mail in: lets dial that back to absentee which had higher standards which made hacking/cheating very hard (so long as the rules are followed as they were not in 2020, signature matchingfrom the applicationand the returned ballot.).
