1 Million + Protesters In DC

"Local police agencies estimated around 1.2 million people attended the rally, but several news outlets, including ABC and Fox News, said the crowd was nearly double that, with an estimated 2 million people in attendance."

The attached article is worth shit.

Show me the proof that any DC agency estimated a crowd over 75K.

Show me the links from ABC or Faux estimating 2 million.

FAIL

No surprise here, but the 1 million figure came from the organizers of the protest. The word "honesty" is not in their vocabulary.

"Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, the group that organized the event, said on stage at the rally that ABC News was reporting that 1 million to 1.5 million people were in attendance.

At no time did ABC News, or its affiliates, report a number anywhere near as large. ABCNews.com reported an approximate figure of 60,000 to 70,000 protesters, attributed to the Washington, D.C., fire department. In its reports, ABC News Radio described the crowd as “tens of thousands.”

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, leader of the corporate-funded American Solutions for Winning the Futures (ASWF), blasted an e-mail to his supporters with a reminder to attend the protests, along with a "Toolkit" of talking points.

Gingrich's ASWF is funded by polluters and helped orchestrate the "Drill Here, Drill Now" campaign last summer.

ASWF has been an official "partner" in the tea party effort since at least March.

yeah, how sad is it that what is suppose to be a news media for ALL the people puts out a release like that..

If you mean the one about DCFD, I put a comment in #35.

"Carrying signs depicting President Obama as Adolf Hitler and the Joker, and chanting slogans such as "'No big government" and "Obamacare makes me sick," approximately 60,000 to 70,000 people flooded Pennsylvania Ave, according to the Washington DC Fire Department."

Do you see ANY chicken boxes, ANY alcoholic beverages of any kind, ANY litter on the ground, and/or ANY prison garb in the above photo of the Million Man March?

This is yet another demonstration of blatant racism from the right .. which is now pissing all over itself about how "racist" the left is and how they're mischaracterized about being seen as the racists the world knows them to be.

how come you didn't see any white people in the million man march?

wouldn't that be considered racist..

You tell us, memeliar. No doubt you worked on a base near DC when it happened and saw the whole thing.

because, as I recall, it was about issues specific to the black community. BAC would know better than me, but I recall that it was about being responsible fathers in a climate of high rates of out-of-wedlock pregnancies in the black community, and being responsible men in a climate of high crime and poverty in their respective communities.

so, you're saying the teabaggers were promoting the issues of rich white people? that's what I thought, thanks for the clarity.

I was there .. and there were white people in the crowd .. just as .. surprise, surprise .. there are white members of the Nation of Islam.

You can consider that racist if you choose .. but I'd hardly consider a church full of white people as racist .. nor would I consider an event that is designed to speak to directly to white men to tell them what white men could do better as a racist event either .. and I would expect that white men would be the majority as such an event.

.. but you can consider it whatever you want.

You only get away with putting things in memeliar's mouth if you're stationed at one of the bases she works.

That's exactly what it was brother .. it was all about introspective, not what's wrong with white people.

It was the most spiritual event and moments that I have ever experienced.

yet you all laugh and make fun of "white people" having a protest or march, how do you know it wasn't spiritual for them..

I always admired the premise and goals of that million man march. And whatever stupid things Farrakhan has done, that was one thing I'll give him a high five for.

I never understood how the rightwing media took an event that was about personal responsibility, and community, and turned it into a hate-whitey myth.
