The Supreme Court ruled in favor of gun rights.

The court ruled that New York violated the Constitution by being overly restrictive on who could conceal carry a gun.

If shoppers in Buffalo had conceal carried the shooter may have been stopped before he killed so many people.

Discuss.

This ruling was a no brainer and it will have a major effect on other democrat run cities that have tried to restrict the legitimate carry of firearms yet refuses to prosecute criminals that use guns in the commission of crimes.

Yeah it is going to effect California gun laws for sure.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled in a major case involving whether there's a fundamental right to carry a concealed gun outside the home in public for self-defense.

The court struck down a century-old New York law that has restricted the concealed carry of guns in public to only those with a "proper cause."

The 6-3 opinion was authored by Justice Clarence Thomas, the court's most senior conservative member. The three liberal justices dissented.

Thomas wrote that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual's right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.

"Because the State of New York issues public-carry licenses only when an applicant demonstrates a special need for self-defense, we conclude that the State's licensing regime violates the Constitution," Thomas wrote.

"The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self defense is not 'a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees,'" he wrote....

Libratards aren't happy.

Yeah I have a friend in New York that had to jump through all sorts of hoops to be able to conceal carry. He had to get a letter from the sheriff and the sheriff had to talk with his neighbors among other things.

yikes ! thank goodness here in VA its just a matter of demonstrating a knowledge of gun safety and a letter to to the circuit court. And, of course, money. I got mine before a recent new large increase in this fee.

Idiocy, so now, with the gun homicide rate rising, and majority of Americans supporting stricter gun regulation, the six or seven States with the lowest gun violence rates in the country now have to conform to the lunacy of the Trump Court

And to show how stupid the ruling is they included a provision where guns can be restricted in specific areas, meaning the right Thomas thinks is absolute ain’t absolute per their own ruling. It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see what those States will do next, pass legislation making nearly everywhere in the State specific areas

of course the next lawsuit is going to have to be challenging NYC to define what is and isn't a 'sensitive' place

Which given that New York’s laws work, will assuredly be the majority of the State, the gun manufacturers are going to go bankrupt trying to keep up

1. the laws don't work. it deprives the people of their unalienable right to defend themselves....
2. it only takes one suit, so not as expensive as you think...
3. this isn't from gun manufacturers, idiot.

stop parroting talking points from your handlers

It's a radical court now. They won't be anything close to moderate or centrist (or representing a majority of Americans) for at least a generation.

I took a course in Texas now you don't have to do anything. Constitutional carry.
