”High court rules religious schools can get Maine tuition aid”

“The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Maine can’t exclude religious schools from a program that offers tuition aid for private education, a decision that could ease religious organizations’ access to taxpayer money.”

“Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for a conservative majority that the program violates the Constitution’s protections for religious freedoms.”

“Maine’s ‘nonsectarian’ requirement for its otherwise generally available tuition assistance payments violates the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. Regardless of how the benefit and restriction are described, the program operates to identify and exclude otherwise eligible schools on the basis of their religious exercise,” Roberts wrote.”

So, if I am not mistaken, Roberts is saying not funding religious schools violates their freedom of religion, which is bizarre by any understanding, guess the Establishment Clause doesn’t exist anymore on the right

Does this mean that those schools have to teach by law anyone who appears at their door, that they can’t reject or throw out students as public schools are required? Will Universities as Norte Dame down the road be entities to the same public funding?

Should be interesting when the ruling gets interpreted and applied in the Red States when such as the the Nation of Islam, which teaches CRT on steroids, or, the Atheist Republic apply for funding for starting primary schools.

And we still have big decisions on guns, equal rights, elections, and of course abortion, still to come

Poor anchovies. Maybe time to tear down all the symbols of Christ. As for the athiest schools, let both of them apply.

Yeah, like that is going happen in Kansas, the right is going ballistic over CRT when it isn’t even taught can’t imagine what would happen when a school opens up that actually teaches CRT and applies for taxpayer money

And quite noticeable that you ignored the question regarding the Trump Court’s rationale that not giving aid to religious schools violates their freedom of religion

Yes, Anchovies, tuition aid can no longer be denied to a school due to its designation as a "religious" school.

That would be discriminating due to religion...a clear violation of the religion clause of the First Amendment.

Poor Anchovies.

So public money going to a private school that teaches a particular religion, has religious instruction, doesn’t violate the Founders insistence on separation of Church and State?

Poor anchovies, Maybe best if you question why the public schools are losing students to alternative schools. Think bullshit like CRT and wokeism have anything to do with that fact?

Correct, Anchovies, it doesn't violate an imaginary "separation of church and state" because that phrase is not in the Constitution.

This is what is in the Religion Clause" of the First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the FREE EXERCISE THEREOF..."

Since the ruling prevents Maine from excluding religious schools from a program that offers tuition aid for private education, there is no violation of the Constitution.

Poor Anchovies.

Hint stupid goy not all religions/people prays to a dead man god on two sticks

It's called the separation clause

There is no "separation clause." Those words are not in the Constitution.

There is an establishment clause but those words are not there.

Will those churches now be required to pay taxes now ? Don't think so. Will churches now be required to be in conformance with state educational requirements? Don't hold your breath

Will all minority religious schools like Muslims and Jews get funding ? This will be interesting!

when such as the the Nation of Islam, which teaches CRT on steroids, or, the Atheist Republic apply for funding for starting primary schools

its not up to the red states to decide where vouchers are sent.......that is up to the parents........if a parent really wants her children taught by the Atheist Republic all she has to do is enroll them in their schools......of course, they'll have to start a school first.....

I believe that most private Christian schools will not allow tuition aid for the parents of their students. They won't accept those students.

Years ago, at our private school board meeting, we were discussing with our lawyer, tax breaks for parents who pay taxes for their children who never go to public school.

He advised against the effort because government would then have their foot in the door to control private schools.

I believe he was right.

They always do this shit when people are distracted. I guess after Rusty Bowers' testimony I guess Kavanah can't complain about being harassed at home!

Since it applies to "any otherwise qualified" school, there is no establishment.

Hint stupid goy not all religions/people prays to a dead man god on two sticks

It's called the separation clause
you're why parents want their children sent to better schools...they're trying to avoid the ignorance prevalent in public schools.....
