Thanks, Kevin McCarthy, for making the Jan. 6 hearings worthwhile

In a perverse way, the country owes a debt to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). He made this refreshing presentation possible. In an astonishingly foolish decision, McCarthy withdrew all his appointees to the committee after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) rejected two of his five nominees. She refused to seat Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.) because they actively spread disinformation about 2020 — and because Jordan was closely involved in Trump’s efforts to challenge the election.

He's a cynical, un-American coward. Just like all the other Republicans staying silent, including, and most of all, Pence.

It’s often forgotten that Pelosi approved McCarthy’s other GOP picks: Reps. Rodney Davis of Illinois, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota and Troy Nehls of Texas. None of them could be characterized as liberals, and Nehls had joined Banks and Jordan in objecting to the certification of the 2020 election.

McCarthy thought that by walking away entirely, he would be able to discredit the work of the committee as “partisan.”

And Nancy Pelosi made it totally useless by telling the Republicans who they could not have on the committee.

Searing testimony increases odds of charges against Trump, experts say

Former prosecutors say January 6 hearings have delivered ‘compelling evidence that Trump committed crimes’

The searing testimony and growing evidence about Donald Trump’s central role in a multi-pronged conspiracy to overturn Joe Biden’s election in 2020 presented at the House January 6 committee’s first three hearings, has increased the odds that Trump will face criminal charges, say former DoJ prosecutors and officials.

Proving the rare act of courage was unique.

It was self-preservation, not bravery. Everyone told Pence he'd look like an idiot and just cause more riots if he tried it.

It was NOT bravery. He had no choice. People on the J6 committee are still speaking kindly of him because they'd really like Pence to come forward and testify. Pence's staff is braver and more patriotic than he is.

His family was in danger as well, most men or women, it’s one thing when you’re threatened but another level when your family is in danger. Pence failed that test, too.

Absolutely. Mikey has presidential ambitions and he knows he's done if he starts bashing the orange maniac.

Yes, it seems they may subpoena Pence.
