Wrong. Gore dropped all objections and accepted his loss by December 12th, long before it ever got the Joint Session.
During the Joint Session on January 6th 2001, which Al Gore presided over, some Democratic representatives did object to the counting of the Florida electoral votes but Vice President Al Gore ruled the objection out of order because it would have required a Senator to also object and none did. The certified slates of electors from all States were accepted and the result was certified that GWB won.
Al Gore would have been out of order if he had done what Trump wanted Pence to do and rejected any of the certified electors.

I have faith that we will endure. I do not have faith that Republicans won't foolishly elect Trump subservient Secretaries of State who would throw out elections and substitute their own electors, essentially rendering the votes of the people meaningless.
I'm sure all of that will be rectified by November 2024. I have faith in the American people.

The founders were very smart, but they could not foresee everything. Now that political morals seem to have vanished from one party I would expect the Constitution to be tested for every possible weakness, just like McConnell simply refusing to bring Garland's SCOTUS nomination to a vote 9 months before the election. Just because the Constitution didn't REQUIRE him to do it during the term in which the nomination was made. That's just underhanded skullduggery. The founders hoped the system would be in the hands of people with at least SOME integrity. When the document says how something is done, it assumes the people will do it in a reasonable time and not delay it for political reasons.
We could use a new amendment creating more rules for how the SCOTUS is seated, possibly including term limits. We don't want another political 'McConnell delay.' Especially when the same people later turn one around in a month when the nominee is on their side. That's BS.
