Ukrainians in Russia align with Moscow

More than a million Ukrainians have sought shelter in Russia since the war began.

“We spent around two weeks hiding in the cellar. There was no water, heating or light. Outside, neo-Nazis were walking the streets, telling us this is all for our independence referendum in 2014 and we’ll all die here – the Russians will come and slaughter us all,” Tatyana recalled, of the early days of the battle for Mariupol.

While the Russian military is often blamed for the destruction of the city, Tatyana sees things rather differently.

By “neo-Nazis”, she had been referring to the Ukrainian soldiers that Russian government officials consider far-right fighters.

“Since February 24, the Ukrainian side was bombarding the whole city. Until March 16, we didn’t see any Russian forces, only the Ukrainians patrolling our streets and setting up checkpoints, blocking the road. So even if you just went out to see your grandma, you couldn’t come back the same way because the whole road would be blocked.

“On March 16, our neighbour shouted to us that the Ukrainian positions had been broken through. We didn’t hesitate: my husband got in the car and we drove off.”

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees have arrived in the Russian Federation since February. And many have a very different perspective on the conflict to those interviewed by Western media.

She had once proudly admitted to an international business conference on Ukraine in the year 2013 that Washington had “invested more than 5 billion dollars to help Ukraine achieve it's goals(Ukraine's membership in NATO).”

Just imagine what the Western hysteria would be if a top-ranking official in the Russian Foreign Ministry were to boast about investing billions of Russian money in undermining the Mexican or Canadian government, with an aim towards incorporating one of those countries into an expanding military alliance. Bolton and other neocon crazies would be demanding the immediate military action against Moscow.

Victorian Nuland is anything but a sympathetic person. She's a crooked neocon ideologue. If she was such a sympathetic person twords Ukrainians, she would have also handed out cookies to those protesters who got frustrated at the corruption of US installed Neo-Nazi Government at Kiev. Let's not forget about those thousands of yellow vest protesters in the heart of Europe.

United Nations Human Rights Commissioner Michelle Bachelet on Wednesday voiced concerns over the alleged "forced deportation" of orphaned Ukrainian children to Russia. In a statement, the rights chief noted the frequently arising reports of abduction of orphaned Ukrainian children from regions occupied by Russia and taken to Moscow for adoption. Ukrainians who fled the strategic city of Mariupol, captured by the Russians, after a weeks-long siege, told AFP that they were forced to leave for Russia, instead of other Ukrainian regions, without "we were given any other choice".

Tatiana, a 38-year-old accountant, told AFP that after spending weeks hiding in an underground floor in the center of Mariupol, and after her father was killed in a missile strike, she decided to leave the city to save her nine-year-old daughter.

In the absence of mobile phone networks, and any other means of communication, I took advantage of the pause in the bombing operations to go to a gathering point identified by the authorities, and inquire about the possibilities of leaving.

Officials of the evacuations, then appointed by the pro-Russian authorities, told her that departure was possible only for Russia.

“We were shocked that we did not want to go to Russia,” she said by phone from Riga, Latvia, where she is now a refugee with her family.

Those represent about 2% of the population of Ukraine, so what is your point?
 
The Russians are issuing Russian passports to any Ukrainian that wants one . Take up, we are told, is very high.

Those that ignore the fact that there was a civil war ongoing in Ukraine before the Russians intervened are simply being willfully ignorant.

Let's say that it won't be in the least surprising that a great many returning Ukrainian refugees will be pro-Russian. We'll see.

Over 15,000 millionaires have left Russia for good. There was no civil war prior to Russia invading. Is this supposed to be your current excuse for the invasion? If so its probably at least the 12th different one you have used.
