Republicans show no class!

Lincoln Chaffe was on Rachel Maddow yesterday, and he said its dudes and dudettes like Joe "You Lie" Wilson, Sarah Palin, and the rest of the wingnut extremists that drove him from the party. I'm pretty sure, Colin Powell has similar feelings although he hasn't confided to formally leaving the party.

You're right about this....it's a self fullfilling prophecy once you let the lunatics take over the asylum. The more extreme they'll get, the more ideological purity they demand from their remaining moderates, the more they will become a white, regional party of the south.

Absolutely true good brother .. and it ain't that difficult to see.

Is that all you have brother?

You keep talking about "one guy" .. I'm talking about the behavior of your entire shrunken party.

On what evidence do you claim people won't leave your shrunken party because of PARTY rude and obnoxious behavior .. when in fact, millions have left your sorry-ass party already .. especially moderate ones?

The Republican Party has shrunken into a regional right-wing white man's party .. so admitedly, there aren't many even left to leave .. but as I said yesterday, I know one who already has and I have no dounbt there are others.

In fact, if you lose a few more, the republican vote will be about as relevent as the black vote with about the same numbers. I imagine there are already more hispanics in this country than there are republicans.

You keep clinging to that "one guy" theory. I'd never deny you a pacifier.

There was a great story on NPR yesterday. Max Blumenthal talking about his book Republican Gomorrah: Inside the Movement that Shattered the Party. He says exactly what you do.

I keep talking about it because it was your contention that the D party were "ecstatic" because this made people leave the R party. It didn't, it won't, and your arguments are sad. Currently the numbers have been going the other direction, and even after this speech the realclearpolitics numbers still are going that direction.

we hear the same crap every time the Democrats finally win the elections, the Republican party is dead, they are losing members because of the extremist in it, they need to change and be more like us saints in the Democrat-Progressive party...then wamo, they end up getting their butts handed to them in the next election because the people are sick of their "extreme visions"..as we are seeing now with the fall of their Dear Leader in just 8 months...they might want to look at themselves and wonder what is happening in their party first before they go on and judge others..

I read the excerpt.

"Hoffer's experiences at this historical fulcrum provided the basis for his seminal work The True Believer, published in 1951. "A rising mass movement attracts and holds a following not by its doctrine and promises," he wrote, "but by the refuge it offers from the anxieties, barrenness and meaninglessness of an individual existence." The true believer was at his core an ineffectual man with no capacity for self-fulfillment. Only the drama provided by a mass movement gave him purpose. "Faith in a holy cause," Hoffer wrote, "is to a considerable extent a substitute for the lost faith in ourselves."

I couldn't have said it better myself! :D

Very true LOL

And again, I simply disagree that Wilson's remark will contribute to that. Even with your anecdotal stories. It isn't working, people aren't leaving the party because some dude shouted "You lie" at the President.

Of course not the repubs love the guy, he got like 700k in campaign contributions in 24 hours from his lie stunt. His campaign manager must be from hollywood.

The question I have was that a mistake of wilsons or planned?

Good question.

Well, remember that Bush is the stupidest person alive and also capable of pulling of the largest conspiracy with ease...

rove and cheny

remember rove is still working for the republicans.

fairly early in this thread or a similar one I said that Wilson would get votes out of his outburst.

remember always look behind the door. Esp where politics or advertising is involved.

Just between you and I brother .. I believe that YOU are the most telling figure on this board. If even you can become hostage to the madness that has become republican politics these days, then republicans are truly infected with a powerful mindfuck that affects even the sane among them.

As evidenced by the outburst of Wilson ... who by all accounts is normally seen as a quiet and thoughtful man .. it demonstrates the absolute desperation and fear that has taken control of republicans.

In spite of any polls, your party has shrunken and retreated into the south, and demographics .. all of them .. do not tell of a bright republican future. But it's your own fault because you put party over intelligence and party over country.

AND you defend the ignorant .. obvious ignorance. You don't seem to understand why most people reject you.

In the end, this isn't good for America because it leaves the country in the hands of cowards .. the democrats.

In truth good brother .. it's kinda' sad seeing you drift over the cliff, but it's telling of how deep the madness goes.
