Being a citizen does NOT mean you are a member of a military unit or a militia.

The term 'militia' means 'military'...an army.

You do NOT need to member of any militia or any military unit to keep and bear arms or to defend yourself or your community.

The State has the right of self defense. It organizes militias for that.
The individual has the right of self defense. Any weapon is used for that.

New schools should be built with an internal courtyard with class room windows facing the internal courtyard. Any exterior window should be 7 feet of the outside ground and windows should have burglar resistant glass with mirrored reflective coating. There should be only two entrances that are monitored by CCTV and require buzzing in to open two separate sets of doors. All doors in the school should have automatic closers and auto locks. Each teacher should wear an ID on a lanyard that ID would also be an electronic door key to that teacher's room. The principal would have a universal key on his/her lanyard ID. Each school would have an armed resource officer on campus.

BTW I was talking to my son about our local schools he is a member of SWAT.. They each have a SRO and if one is out for illness they pull an officer from the regular police force. They have guys that were on Dallas SWAT and retired and came to Southlake to be SROs. They like being SROs because it also pays for their health insurance. Some of the SROs have been in gun fights before becoming SROs and have years of policing experience.

Sounds like very capable people.

The National Guard IS a militia. It is the national militia.
The State militias also exist.

Equipping either is no different than what citizens can keep and bear. NOTHING in the Constitution lists any weapon by type, size of magazine, how scary it looks, how fast is the rate of fire, etc.
