A special grand jury convened in Georgia to look into Trump's efforts to overturn election results.

Norm Eisen, a former White House special counsel, told CNN that it's likely that Trump will be prosecuted.

Eisen said there was "particularly strong evidence" of Trump's wrongdoing.
Former President Donald Trump could be prosecuted in Georgia for his efforts to overturn the state's election results in the 2020 election, a former White House special counsel for ethics told CNN.
Norm Eisen told CNN on Sunday, that it's likely that Trump will be prosecuted because of "particularly strong evidence."
"I think the evidence is particularly strong for a prosecution in the state of Georgia, where the Atlanta DA has convened a special grand jury," Eisen said.
In January, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis asked for a special grand jury to help her office investigate Trump's efforts to overturn election results in the state. The grand jury convened last month.

In a January 2021 phone call, Trump pleaded with Raffensperger to help him overturn the election results, but the Secretary of State refused.
Trump has repeatedly attacked Raffensperger in the aftermath of the election, and has recently endorsed Raffensperger's challenger in the Georgia Secretary of State GOP Primary. Trump said he was shocked when Raffensperger won.
Eisen also noted that since the House Jan. 6 committee convened its public hearings last week, the evidence presented may assist the Atlanta DA's case.
"And we have that tape of Trump saying to [Georgia's] Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, also expected to be a witness in these hearings, 'Secretary Raffensperger, just find 11,780 votes."

The FBI arrested Michigan gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley on Thursday and charged him with four misdemeanors for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. In the past, Kelley, a Republican, had acknowledged attending the protests, but the arrest came after video footage and photographic evidence emerged showing the 40-year-old real estate agent breaching the Capitol and repeatedly waving the crowd into the building.
The arrest is unprecedented: Kelley is reportedly the first person running for elected office in a major state or federal race to be charged in connection with the Jan. 6 riots.
And it has raised the question of what effect it could have on his standing in a high-profile Republican primary already awash with shocking developments, including half of the candidates getting kicked off the primary ballot because of forged signatures on their candidacy ballots.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has begun testifying before a special grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn Georgia's 2020 election results.

Raffensperger arrived roughly half an hour before his scheduled testimony on Thursday, saying it would be "hopefully short" on his way into the courthouse.
The Republican is a central witness in Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' investigation, which kicked off after Raffensperger's infamous January 2021 call with the former President came to light. During the call, Trump pressured Raffensperger to "find" the votes necessary for Trump to win Georgia -- a state Joe Biden won by nearly 12,000 votes.
Raffensperger, who faced a wave of death threats for upholding Georgia's election results, later penned a book in which he noted that he had repeatedly felt threatened by Trump during the call.

In the fallout of the 2020 presidential election, culminating in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, Trump and his legal team toed legal lines and possibly stepped over them in an attempt to hold on to power. After the first public hearing of the Jan. 6 committee last week, the case against the former president continues to grow, said Norm Eisen, a former U.S. ambassador and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, on Sunday.

"I do see the evidence mounting for the new prosecutions,” Eisen told Christi Paul on Sunday. “We [the Brookings Institution] have published that evidence in a big Brookings report, and we have an evidence tracker that we put out.”

Trump is never going to jail, probably won't ever even see the inside of a courtroom, with his army of attorneys and accountants he will postpone, delay, and appeal everything and anything beyond his lifetime

But why do you want that to happen? You always assert this.

I don't want it to happen prior to 2024, Democrats are in a better postion no matter who runs with Trump running for President, especially now with everything that is being revealed

Regardless, as I said, with his army of lawyers and accountants, any litigation will be extended out beyond his lifetime. Look at NY AG's case, every single step of the way, everything, even the least significant, has been appealed, delayed, postponed, and begun again for over four years now, and the end still isn't in sight

dude, we had fifteen candidates.....four is not half....they were all dropped because they were using the same company to gather signatures and it did sloppy work......kind of sad the Detroit police chief got dropped.....I think he would have made a good job of it......

Obviously, I am not an atty, but seems pretty cut and dry to me. He did it. Not only that, after he refused trump tweeted out threats to him. - then Brads family got doxxed, his kids names and ages, pics of their home. Yeah.. trump's guilty.

I'm interested to see if FL's going to protect him from GA's law enforcement to arrest trump. A civil war between southern states over twump? Could be interesting.

twump's behavior mirrors that of a mobster. He ran the WH like a mob boss.

If Biden had made the same phone call, MAGA would be Benghazing it nonstop. Such hypocrites.

You know how I know you're right? They still haven't forgiving Hillary - still calling for her to be "locked up".

Her crime? She got more votes than twump.
