WASHINGTON (CNN) — Two out of three Americans who watched President Barack Obama's health care reform speech Wednesday night favor his health care plans — a 14-point gain among speech-watchers, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll of people who tuned into Obama's address Wednesday night to a joint session of Congress.

Sixty-seven percent of people questioned in the survey say the support Obama's health care reform proposals that the president outlined in his address, with 29 percent opposed. Those figures are almost identical to a poll conducted immediately after Bill Clinton's health care speech before Congress in September, 1993.

The audience for the speech appears to be more Democratic than the U.S. population as a whole. Because of this, the results may favor Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tune into the speech. The poll surveyed the opinions of people who watched Wednesday night's speech, and does not reflect the views of all Americans.

I don't have a problem with the use of "negro" although I prefer African-American or black.

I think you are delusional. This outburst was lame and rude, but not the landmark of anything at all. The guy won't even lose his job.

The "tipping point" will be when people realize that it is still HR 3200, "Undocumented Visitors" are covered, "Pregnancy Reversals" are covered... and the lame and rude "you lie" outburst will be less than a footnote.

Lies? In a bit less than 10 days HR 3200 is coming up for a vote, if it still includes insurance coverage for "undocumented visitors" then it was actually a "lie."

Show me where "undocumented visitors" will have health insurance under HR 3200. Show me where "pregnancy reversals" are covered. Show me where the Hyde Amendment is stricken.

Seriously inane "anger" answer to what is very much reality.

1. I have stated more than once that the outburst was rude, lame, and inappropriate.
2. (what my actual point was) It doesn't change the debate at all. If, in fact, it is shown to include coverage for illegal immigrants as it currently does, it will lose support even though this guy was rude. This guy's outburst, if it is overly covered, will show the Ds to be whiny and defensive (think of lipstick on pig reaction from McCain camp), but it still won't change the debate one iota.

They are the minority party, the bills they offered never get scheduled for debate. Standing and pointing out what is in the bill that people will not like and do not want is what the minority group does. Saying they should sit quietly by and do nothing? Bah. You're delusional too. The guy's outburst changes nothing about this debate. Attempting to make it into something huge will definitely harm your party. I hope the D caucus runs around whining about this outburst ad infinitum.

the Dems in the committee rejected an amendment precluding illegals from coverage.....the act requires that employers provide health coverage for their employees......the plan also provides for government subsidies for certain employee plans....what if an illegal alien is an employee?
