"Russian oil sales have gone up — not down — after massive sanctions from the West
Ben Winck Apr 13, 2022,

Despite massive sanctions from the West, Russia is making more money from its oil and gas trade.

Russia is expected to make more than $320 billion from energy sales in 2022, up more than a third from 2021.

Sales have been bolstered by new demand from India, lasting trade with China, and soaring prices.

so why are we sanctioning Russian oil? It's not stopping Russian sales , it only hurts the west :palm:
Like everything else about Ukraine we do it back asswards

Well, Russia only supplied the U.S. about 6% of our oil. That's not a huge number.

LONDON, April 13 (Reuters) - Major global trading houses are planning to reduce crude and fuel purchases from Russia's state-controlled oil companies as early as May 15, sources said, to avoid falling foul of European Union sanctions on Russia.

"May 31 (Reuters) - The European Union has agreed to ban the bulk of imports of Russian crude and oil products in its latest round of sanctions following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

The ban on seaborne crude imports will be phased in over six months and for seaborne refined products over eight months. It excludes deliveries via the Druzhba oil pipeline which supplies refineries in Eastern Europe and eastern Germany. read more

Yet many European buyers have voluntarily suspended purchases of Russian oil or announced plans to phase it out, which means Russian oil imports will be cut by about 90%." (by the end of 2022)

It is interesting that the West is making it illegal for any ship that carries Russian crude to be insured by Western firms. This is intended to really hammer Russia. It has I think only once been done, to Iran.

Again making the Chinese argument that America has to go, we are too abusive to be allowed to continue in global power.

The Russians say that it will make very little difference, they have a solution.

Which is how the sanctions are going generally.
