Neither Pelosi or Schumer would allow it because of "optics" . The mayor of DC has to allow deployment in DC city limits. Trump had already authorised the us of the National Guard 4 days earlier . Nancy Pelosi rejected their use. The ball was already in Nancy's court on January the 6th. TRump does not have the authority to deploy National Guard on the Hill only Nancy Pelosi can do that after Trump O'K's their use. He OK'd the use of the National Guard on January the 2nd.
