If someone on the right tried this with Sotomayor we'd be hearing about it for weeks and how something someone on Fox News said "caused" it. We'd hear how "irresponsible" it was for <insert talking head and/or politician here> to say that <insert innocuous phrase misinterpreted> and how that just riled up the "racist" rightwing.
Instead, I tried to find it on this site and didn't see it (it may be here somewhere, I just don't see it on the new posts page). I then went to CNN.com to see if the story was easily accessible on something leftwing enough to be acceptable to the leftists on this board. I didn't see it on their page. So I ran a google for "attempt to kill kavanaugh" to get the story. I see that the story was reported, but buried deep.
Illegally attempting to change the mind of a justice through protests at their house really is illegal. (lol)... Trying to kill one of the Justices "in protest" is even more so.

A California man is facing a charge of attempted murder after his arrest near the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Nicholas John Roske, 26, had planned to murder a Supreme Court justice and was armed with a pistol and tactical knife, court documents said.
The suspect was taken into custody at about 01:00 local time (06:00 BST).
Protection for the justices has been beefed up ahead of a landmark ruling on US abortion rights.
According to an affidavit filed in US District Court, Mr Roske was spotted by two US Deputy Marshals while getting out of a taxi in front of a Supreme Court justice's home.
Carrying a suitcase and a backpack, Mr Roske turned to walk down the street.
