The nation’s “best Governor”

Trump was quite proud of driving black unemployment down to the lowest rate that had ever been recorded.

Yes, he got rid of jobs mostly staffed by AA's. Fewer opportunities - and out of context which is what you are doing now, the numbers might look better to an idiot.

Unfortunately, the only idiots are the Republicans.

Good morning, by the way, Sunshine :)

IRONY; an idiot who doesn't know he's an idiot. :palm:

Yeah, he beat that dead horse till it bucked, didn't he? Funny how you don't think it's racist to distinguish between unemployment period and "white" unemployment, and black. Here's a tip for you stable geniuses: when unemployment goes down it benefits *everyone.* Currently, per the BLS, "black unemployment" is 6.2%.* Under #TRE45ON it once hit 5.9%.

Why did you bring Trump and race into this discussion, anyways? Are you trying to cover up for the fact that he is a racist pig of a bully? It's not working.

* In May, the unemployment rate was 3.6 percent for the third month in a row, and the number of
unemployed persons was essentially unchanged at 6.0 million. These measures are little different from
their values in February 2020 (3.5 percent and 5.7 million, respectively), prior to the coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic. (See table A-1.)

"Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rate for Asians declined to 2.4 percent in May.
The jobless rates for adult men (3.4 percent), adult women (3.4 percent), teenagers (10.4 percent),
Whites (3.2 percent), Blacks (6.2 percent), and Hispanics (4.3 percent) showed little or no change over
the month. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)"

So you're only concerned because you don't like Governor DeSantis and Republicans? You don't follow the program? Do you go to Tampa Bay games? Hang out at Disney? Watch the ceremony...or better yet, some of the competitions....Maybe you'll get a better understanding of how important it was to let everyone be able to get their "shot" at participating in the events that they worked very hard to qualify for....

No, I am concerned about fascism growing within one of the major American political parties.

I do sometimes go to Rays games, I hate going to Disney, That is not relevant to the Fascism. Even the policy DeSantis is promoting is not relevant, I am upset at the way he is going about using the power of the government to bully private organizations for disagreeing with his politics.

I learned, very quickly, toots <--- lol

Anyway .. I learned very quickly in this internet discussion biz.. that when any Republican uses the term, "diversity hire" or complaints they're opportunities aren't as good as minorities - you know you're dealing with a KKK white supremacist asshole. Trust me. They can't say, "n**ger". So they need to use other buzzwords.

Republicans suck.

Yeah, other words like "thug" or "inner city" person. One of the participants in this current discussion even told racist jokes on another forum, and claimed that posting in "Ebonics" isn't racist. What do you think?

so you just don't like him personally....I don't see him bullying anyone... Particularly when it comes to the Special Olympics situation... But you are free to believe as you like... Who hates Disney? Except that it's ridiculously overpriced...

You wouldn't even be having this discussion with the Reichtards if this had been a (D) governor bullying a sports team or organization or corporation. Imagine if you would NASCAR announcing a rally/race at Chicagoland Speedway. Governor Pritzker (D) tells NASCAR that's great, but absolutely NO Confederate flags or symbols may be displayed, or he'll fine them $27.5 million dollars. Do you think the whiny RWers in this thread would be crying about how hard those drivers trained, how much money they spent on their cars, and how unfair it is to deny them the chance to compete because it's their right to choose a Confederate flag or not?

Bingo. Recognizing and protecting diversity is in a company's best interests if they want to attract the best and the brightest.

I retired 12 years ago but it was the same at the large insurance company where I worked (now part of Aetna). If the Reichtards want to call it being "woke" or "PC" or whatever clique-du-jour they're dished up, let 'em. America has always been a melting pot, a diverse land with diverse ppl from diverse places. You cannot claim to love this nation while simultaneously hating half the ppl who compose it.

Yes. I heard some older white guys ranting about this once at lunch, when they must have assumed nobody could hear. They didn't understand why the company went so out of its way to be "woke" or "PC." But even for a cold-blooded profit-making organization, it makes sense when you want to attract highly educated young workers. You have to at least go through the motions when it comes to DEI and certain key issues like environmentalism, or you will have a hard time attracting those workers and an even harder time retaining them. And, from the company's perspective, that's a higher priority than trying to attract and retain undereducated older workers. I think the death of pensions factors into that, too.... like some older workers are grandfathered into defined benefit pension plans and other gold-plated benefits, and so they're not likely to shop around for another job, whereas young people have very little invested with a particular employer, and so if they don't like the company culture, they'll just move on.

I do not know anything about him personally. He is pushing private enterprise around to manipulate their support for his politics using the power of government.

I just dont enjoy their parks, id rather go to the Bahamas and enjoy nature.

There would be criminal prosecutions, hearings and screaming all day for a year.

You just mentioned that he's personally pushing private enterprise around to manipulate their support for his politics using the poser of government...If you don't agree with him don't vote for him...You have nothing to do with the sports teams or Disney...or Special Olympics...which is not "private", as you know... His decision was for the benefit of the athletes..The SO
organization was still free to recommend vaccines....just not require "proof" to participate...that's something up to the individuals.......I doubt anyone is heading to the games covid positive...do you?

The bitching from older white guys has been going on for YEARS. My late brother-in-law complained, way back in the early 90s, how unfair it was that he was passed over for promotion in favor of a black woman. He had worked for the company (a defense contractor) for years, but his education had stopped at an associates degree in electronics. She had also worked there for years although not as long as Bob had. But she also had a BS in engineering and a masters in business. The promotion was to a supervisory/management position. The company obviously chose her for her education and experience over the ppl with just experience. I'm not saying that there was no affirmative action thing going on; we have no way to know that. But that was HIS perception, and that's at the roots of the angry older white guy thing that Trump appeals to.

Only a year?

Nice job, btw, on not letting Toxic TOP deflect you off into the personal realm by claiming the only reason you disagree with DeathSantis is that you don't like him personally. When they cannot defend the indefensible, it always reverts to that.

That's exactly what he is doing, and you can bet your bippy that if this was a (D) governor doing exactly the same thing the RWers would agree that it is fascist, and would be calling for impeachment. Remember the cruise ships and how he tried to bully them around earlier in the pandemic? DeSantis doesn't seem to quite grok that FL needs these businesses a lot more than they need Florida.

They are 1) dumb, or 2) fine with it, as long as it pushes toward their goals.

Again, it does not matter if I agree with the result or not, it does not matter what the issue is about, I find it abhorrent for an elected official to use government resources to punish private enterprise simply because they disagree with his politics. Anyone who supports that did not study WWII history very well.
