Supreme Court law clerks are being asked to turn over their personal cell phone records and sign affidavits as the search ramps up for the person who leaked the draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Language of the affidavits and what the scope of the cell phone search will be are not yet clear, sources familiar with the efforts told CNN – but the potential of handing over their personal devices have clerks exploring their options, including hiring outside counsel.

Considering the crack down on law clerks, it's likely the court has not yet been successful in determining the source of the breach.

While the move asking for personal phone records is unprecedented in the Supreme Court, so is a leak of a draft opinion that led to the investigation in the first place.

Clarence Thomas, who wanted to block investigation into his wife's cell phone records, because she was not at the riot, when she actually was... Now wants clerks to hand over their cell phones, even though he is the obvious suspect himself. How many more times does he get to be his own judge?

If they were serious they would give everyone an ultimatum, testify under oath that they know nothing about the leak or else get fired, lie under oath and then you go to jail.

This is a VDH idea.

I agree, but WTF is a VDH?

I mean... it's so ridiculous. The right wing thugs on SCOTUS has made it into sewer.

They ought to be looking at Ginni Thomas's computer and phone as well.

Man, I'd probably blow up my career if I were one of those clerks: say I'll share my phone records with the justices if they share theirs with me. Heck, I'd even just trade with Clarence Thomas. If there are to be no secrets among coworkers, let's do it right.
