An AR-15 is not a colonial musket. Our laws should acknowledge that.

So no need for any Amendments after the 10th?

Not a lawyer, but it seems to me that the more both parties chip away at the Constitution the worse things get. Maybe it's because stripping rights is not the right path.

Changes to The Constitution have mainly increased rights, not chipped them away. We welcome our better understanding of society, as in the point you made: just as we welcome our enhanced appreciation for the civic involvement on women, so do we welcome modern weapons in the hands of teenagers.

Since that 13% of the population commit 51% of the violent crime...

13% is the TOTAL BLACK POPULATION. Young , black , males, are more like 4% of the population...committing 51% of the homicides.

Disgraceful.

250+ years ago 18 year olds were most likely married and started a family. And ones in the west lived with the threat of indian or other attacks so accurate rifles intended to kill were vital.

Of course right and wrong were more broadly upheld principles then as opposed to now.

It is wrong to let everyone have weapons. But then, the US loves killing people abroad.

But those who wrote the Second Amendment in the 18th century could not have envisioned how their perfectly reasonable intentions would be distorted 235 years later — or how 18-year-olds would be able to buy and carry assault weapons meant for a modern battlefield into grade-school classrooms.

There’s a galaxy of difference between a musket and an AR-15. It’s time to remove these instruments of mass murder from the marketplace once and for all.

An AR-15 is NOT a colonial mucket. Excellent observation and quite true.
But the founders gave us methods to amend the constitution that are OF NO USE WHATSOEVER when the nation is polarized like this.

Shouldn't we concentrate on things that won't need a new constitution--like universal healthcare? Women's rights? Workers' Rights? Voter rights?

America first.

We need to be number one at something, at least.

The must mean that you want the military weilding muskets as well.

Good luck with getting that one rolled out. ;)

Not the brightest comment.

Brighter than you'll ever comprehend, that's for damn sure.

Let's take a brief look at historical consistency: When this country was in its infancy, what kind of weapons were soldiers weilding? Great, now let's look at the militias: What kind of weapons were THEY weilding? Wrong. They had muskets too.

See, in order to have a "well regulated militia" you have to be effective. Muskets against machine guns is hardly effective.

Understood?

instead of your bullshit opinion, provide historical documentation proving your moronic theory

As a separate issue this was already dealt with in the " Crabb decision" that dealt with Indian hunting and spear fishing rights in the ceded territory using modern methods and equipment to harvest game. YOU LOSE.
