Agreed; especially since they've had so many the past few years. Mainly Russian spies and financial corruption. I plan on letting my membership lapse after Feb23. I'd renewed it after about 15 years in 2013 when the Democrats geared up to ban guns again under Obama.

That should have been clear to all Texans for years now with his anti-abortion moves, redistricting moves and fucking up the Texas power grid for profit.
He knows its lousy theater. Not sure shameful is in his range where politics enter the picture. If it were he wouldn't close his mind to the next time an eighteen year old takes it into his head to assault school kids with a macho gun and live ammunition. Preventing that is only necessarily too late if the eighteen year old, now fifteen or sixteen or seventeen, can still easily do what his role models were able to do and easily equip himself once he reaches that magic birthday.
After the ORourke incident, Abbott knows he has to look empathetic and he realizes attending an NRA so soon after the shooting would provide ORourke too much for his campaign. Abbott’s motivation is purely political, if he wasn’t running he’d be at the head of the podium
