My understanding is that many transgender people say that as early as that they were thinking of themselves in terms of being the opposite gender.

They see these people in public, they are curious, they ask questions. You give them age appropriate answers. Children are aware on their own. It’s important to teach children and yes, sometimes at an early age.

Kids have imaginations not wondering about their sexual identities with any seriousness of purpose
Kids might fantisize about anything - being a knight in shining armor..whatever

Let them do so, give them time to sort things out in their minds, but no kid has any sex drive at that point

sure you can say things like "2 moms" or "2 dads" - that's age appropriate
Not- "well they swapped genders" - it's even more confusing for kid to go there
