Ban on protests in front of homes signed by Gov. DeSantis

We have a constitutional right to protest in front of private property, no state can take that away. It's usually media who set up camp with news vans, lighting, and your phone number so if a governor wants to end protesting, they also have to end media rights too.

Julian Assange and countless other journalists are being locked up or murdered for believing they have constitutional rights.

Well, Julian Assange is facing Conspiracy to Cyber HACKING CRIMES! That right off the bat! Cyber Hacks are crimes and Posting or the RE-posting of Hacked information is against the law. It is a crime to use stolen property- most especially for profit or political gain. ALSO, Julian Assange, is indicted on 17 counts of violating the Espionage Act for his role in obtaining and publishing secret military and diplomatic documents in 2010.

I agree with you on all the other comments!

A foreigner can't be indicted for espionage. The war criminals Assange exposed haven't been prosecuted and are now instigating WW3. Government is out of control. Read up on Steven Donziger.

About 200 of the 700 capitol protesters were violent and only after they were hit with stun grenades and pepper spray. Legacy media never tells you how or why the violence started. The 500 peaceful protesters are still being help in jail without bail.

Those who didn't trespass or commit any other crimes aren't in jail. The problem are those who broke the law in order to try to overturn our election. The media does indeed say how and why the violence started -- and you can watch it play out in real time in the videos. The crooks who stormed the Capitol as part of the planned Putsch put Capitol police in a position where they had to use stun grenades, pepper spray, etc., in order to try to defend the lives of our representatives. Thank goodness they succeeded.

At this point, what really worries me is that this will be like the Bierhall Putsch. As you'll recall, the Nazis launched a 1/6-style attempt to seize the government, which failed when authorities on the scene managed to push them back. But, unfortunately, the traitors were given mere slaps on the wrist, despite the fact the Putsch, like the one on 1/6, had turned deadly. Even Hitler himself got nothing but a few months in jail, during which time he was allowed to write Mein Kampf and to continue rallying his political movement.

What happens when you let such people off without serious consequences is that they see it as an invitation to try again, and next time they will be better prepared. A decade after the Nazis failed to seize power, they succeeded, and the rest was an unimaginable catastrophe for all humanity.

Will we make the same mistake? It certainly seems possible. The ring leader hasn't even seen a day behind bars, this time, so we're doing even worse than the German authorities did with regard to Trump's predecessor.

courts have long distinguished between sidewalks and public property used by a business vs an individual - thankfully.

Your link deals with assembly on private property, which is a different queston than we're discussing here. Try to focus.

also - the Sons of liberty understood the bill of rights only applied to the Federal Government - not the states.

Nobody is arguing otherwise. But now the first amendment definitely applies to the state and has for a very, very long time. What DeSantis is attempting here is using government power to block the exercise of First Amendment rights.

People who protest in front of private residences in Florida can face jail time and fines under a bill signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Anyone who protests in front of a private residence in Florida can face jail time and fines under a bill Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Monday.

The legislation makes it a second-degree misdemeanor to protest in a manner that is aimed at intentionally harassing or disturbing someone in their home. Violators face 60 days in jail and fines of up to $500.

Wow he doesn't even pretend. He truly is a fascist. People being thrown in jail for exercising their First Amendment rights?

I predict many people will be protesting in front of his house to spite him. They won't be enough rooms in jail.
Wow, all this from a Jan 6 complainer.

Stun grenades were being used on people walking to the capitol. You decided they were nazis and got what they deserved. That's not how the constitution works. The capitol is public property.

my link deals with court cases that overturned limits to private business property. nice try though. you need to focus

Nobody is arguing otherwise.

You tried. You pretended that the Sons of Liberty would of rejected states power to ban this - they would of understood that states could ban this

liar said:
These are EXACTLY the things the founders had in mind with the First Amendment.

you are a liar - they respected their states - they feared the federal government having too much power.

But now the first amendment definitely applies to the state and has for a very, very long time. What DeSantis is attempting here is using government power to block the exercise of First Amendment rights.

Again - courts will allow this. We did not fight a war to prevent states from legislating accordingly

ya it's the new fad. more social breakdowns
It's harassment when people are living their lives not on the job. RW or LW

Yet it's the Reichwing melting down about it and passing laws that are most likely unconstitutional. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Disturbing the peace and threatening people at their homes is not acceptable.
