Actually at a Town Hall moderated by Hannity Trump said the wall would not be needed where there are natural barriers like mountains and deserts. 100,000 a year die from drugs smuggled in from Mexico so to me building a wall is like building a nuke sub or an aircraft carrier. The walls purpose is to protect.
