Reichwingers are never satisfied. Months of crying about high pump prices, and blaming Biden. Then a (D) makes a proposal (which, given the credibility of the OP, really didn't happen like he says) to help that, and they start screeching about *that.* Let me guess -- it's SOCIALISM!!!!

Except the proposal doesn't help it. We saw how price controls didn't work in the '70's (even though my understanding is they were initially popular with the public when Nixon implemented them) and it's not going to work now. In fact it will likely make the problem worse.

None of us are new to politics. Politicians of all stripes make proposals like this that they know won't work/pass to make it look like they are trying to do something.
