I never put a scope on it or changed it in any way! it slayed quite a few deer over the years. I love that rifle.
Speaking of Deer Chili! I would pull out the backstraps- butterfly them into chops, hack off the two hams, bone what was left and grind up the rest of the deer in Chili meat mixed with beef tallow!
I was a meatcutter all through High school, so I always processed my own deer- and OK- my Father-in-law's too! LOL!

You've seen my comments on guns Matt!
I think the best thing to do about guns is go the Department Of Public Safety Route and treat guns as if they were vehicles.
Where you would take a quick test, pass it, and acquire a license! This license allows you to possess, carry, buy, and sell guns in accordance to mandated state background checks.
And I also believe that all guns should be registered- just as we register our cars today except the registrations should never have to be renewed unless the gun is sold!
If we could just accomplish this, our world would be a lot safer today!
No one should have to give up their guns or their license unless they violate the state's gun laws- if they did, they should lose their license and privilege to own, buy, or sell guns!
The Seagoville Prison Unit is a White-Collar Crime prison near here. They have the best ST. Augustine Hay I have ever seen. And at a great price. It was the only place I ever purchased hay for my horses all my life! You just drive out into the field and follow the balers, load your own freshly cut and baled hay, and pay as you drive out!

Considering the U.S. has the power to take out the entire world numerous times over, it would probably take 1/4 of an hour to find and take out all elements of the enemy from within as they hide out in their basements and other dank and stinking areas. Never understate the might of America that focuses on both internal and external enemies against the U.S., humanity and civilization. Although certain internal smirking repukes and blue dog enemies may think they are in the driver's seat on their mission to destroy democracy from within at giving aid and pleasure to foreign enemies but the reality of it all contradicts their reckless, misconnected and ridiculous way of waging war on humanity and on the taxpayer dime and including the taxpayer dime of their own supporters. To a degree. The mentally retarded should probably not have guns. Criminals with records should definitely not be allowed to own them.
And not everyone should be allowed to sell them. If one acquired a license to own, that should be enough to be allowed to sell them as well.
Because we have to have some way to try and keep people from selling them without having a background check performed.
That is the hole in the system- that's where people purchase guns that have no business owning them.
If you were licensed, you would not want to risk losing your license by selling it without the state doing the background check.
Or you certainly would not want to lose your license because you failed to register your weapon with the state!

I've had better guns since I was a young man.
It's nice for the historical factor and still functional, my favorite gun is an 80s Marlin model 60, though.

When I was a kid I used to pop shotgun shells with the motherfucker. Shoot rabbits at a dead run right in the head.
I know where them bullets are gonna go out that Model 60 like magic. It's a beautiful thing.
I used to drive 10s up to the rim of a shotgun shell into a sapling. 2 of them, shotgun shell resting on 2 nails.
Get back a little ways and shoot the fuckin primer with the Model 60.
BOOM! It could top a tree out. We did things like this for fun when I was a kid.
The shotgun shell thing worked 1/3 of the time.
It didn't always work, but when it hit that primer..BOOM!

My 303 riflings are still perfect. And the original field cleaning kit was still in the stock when I bought it. I've been told that is very rare!
The most accurate gun I ever fired were those old 22 long hex barreled rifles we used to shoot at the old armory target range in High School ROTC.
I wish I could even find one of those today, because those are perfect for Turkey Shoots.
