Shireen Abu Akleh: Al Jazeera journalist shot dead in West Bank

Israeli forces have shot dead Al Jazeera’s journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

She was hit by a live bullet on Wednesday while covering Israeli raids in the city of Jenin and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to the ministry and Al Jazeera journalists.
She was declared dead at the hospital, the ministry said.

The circumstances of her death were not clear, but videos of the incident show that Abu Akleh was shot in the head, said Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim.

“What we know for now is that the Palestinian Health Ministry has announced her death. Shireen Abu Akleh, was covering the events unfolding in Jenin, specifically an Israeli raid the city, which is north of the occupied West Bank, when she was hit by a bullet to the head,” Ibrahim said, speaking from the Palestinian city of Ramallah.

“As you can imagine, this is a shock to the journalists who have been working with her.”

Speaking through tears, Ibrahim said Abu Akleh was a “very well respected journalist” who has been working with Al Jazeera since the beginning of the second Palestinian Intifada in 2000.

Abu Akleh was wearing a press vest when she was killed.

Another Palestinian journalist was also shot by a live bullet in the back, the health ministry said. Ali Samoudi, who works for the Jerusalem-based Quds newspaper was reported in stable condition.

Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Ramallah, Walid al-Omary, said that there had been no shooting carried out by Palestinian gunmen, disputing an Israeli statement that referenced the possibility.

Sharon claimed that Bush assured him , by letter, that the US would support Israel occupying more of the West Bank as ' compensation ' for withdrawing from Gaza.. Bush denied it. The truth is that the fascists couldn't afford to protect their squatters in a hostile environment. The same needs to happen in the West Bank. The US must cut of the fascists' funds. That will require an American revolution.

The next election will be between a billionaire supporter of Jewish fascism and a Jewish fascism billionaire supporter. If there's a way to break that cycle- outside of revolution- then it's a mystery to me.

Sanders might have addressed it. AIPAC Democrats knifed him.

The reports by the rest of Shireen's press team confirm that they were all in clearly-marked press uniform and standing beside a clearly identified press vehicle. They were deliberately targeted and the targeting continued as they huddled for cover. This was deliberate, state-sponsored shooting of journalists.
How can anybody support this Israeli filth ?

Don't you think that's a piss-weak prosemitic response ? It was an assassination according to the eye witnesses, the other victims , the autopsy doctor and the evidence. She was wearing a PRESS vest, a PRESS helmet and she was shot in the face by an Israeli fascist sniper.
There shouldn't be any occupation forces in Palestine. They're there illegally. Are you a supporter of occupations, collective punishments and assassinations yourself ?

Further, there were no ' Palestinian fighters ' present. It's an outright lie . All the Press personnel attest to that.
