All female sports are minor leagues. Why should they get equal pay with the men.? If they want equal pay, then compete with the men.

may 5 2022 In a breathless puff piece, Variety celebrated tennis star Venus Williams, for her new crusade for “equal pay” with male tennis players. But her sudden concern for equal pay seems to clash with events even she was involved in.

In the piece published by Variety this month, Williams claims that she realized she would not be paid the same as men when she was 16.

“Getting there and realizing, ‘Wow, I’m not being paid equally,’ was just definitely a slap in the face to a 16-year-old. … It hit me hard,” she insisted, according to the article.

The magazine goes on to say that Williams claims women are typically paid 82 cents for every dollar earned by men, but the pay gap is worse outside the U.S. “At least in the United States you can have the conversation. Outside of the United States, it’s very difficult to have these conversations,” she said.

Williams added that her mother was her inspiration to fight for equal pay. Williams said that her mother, Oracene Price, “impressed upon us the importance of telling the truth and living the truth.”

It's like this in all sports. The top team in the WNBA could not beat an average boys HS basketball team. Wimmin are physically equal to 10 year old boys.

For some reason this reminded of a comedian's observation that women are simply not as big and strong as men and THAT is why men are comparatively better athletes.

He went on to explain that when LeBron James retires from the NBA, he could "self identify" as a woman, sign with a WNBA team and score more than 400 points every game. ;)

Of course, this comedian could be wrong. But he seemed about right to me.

Why should lebron have to wait for retirement.? If the feminists believe this equality talk then all sports leagues should be open to everyone.

My thought, too.

The trouble with that would be that there are male athletes also paying in the minor leagues on the rosters where the women would find a spot.

Could the ladies beat the gentlemen out of their roster spots? Might be fun to watch.

The minor league MEN playing also earn less than the Major League MEN about which the ladies complain.
 
It doesn't matter if Williams, even when at her best, would probably lose a given match to a high ranked male player. What should matter is the ability of women's tennis to generate a fan base and general audience that will pay to see matches and watch them on television. Professional women's tennis does both very well.
