The way to settle disputes is through diplomacy, something Ukraine was more than willing to engage in. Putin walked away from it.
There was no need to attack Ukraine. The aggression is renounced the world over.

I supported the United States use of military force against a domestic insurrection from 1861-65, as much as I acknowledge Ukraine's right to use force to put down a domestic insurrection.

It took Ukraine decades to fully recover from the Nazi invasion and occupation, and it it tragic and utterly unexpected that their country is being destroyed for the second time in 70 years.
The real Nazis here are the Putin regime, not Volodymyr Zelensky.

As a matter of fact, it would be just as reasonable to attack his own country, Russia. There are thousands of Nazis right there in Russia. No need to go across the border if he wanted to attack Nazis.

The fact is, Russian nationalists have considered Ukraine to be an integral part of Holy Russia for 300 years at least. And like a jilted boyfriend, they just couldn't bear the thought of Kyiv rejecting the authority of Moscow and joining the family of western liberal democracies.
