For most people not on the Left, abortion is a non-issue.

It just became an issue, FOR ALMOST EVERYONE!!! Before many people could ignore it, knowing that it would be kept legal by the Supreme Court. Now, every state and federal election becomes about abortion.

Or maybe a conservative who wants to warn conservatives of the coming tsunami? A liberals gain little by the early release, but the more time conservatives have to prepare for this the better.

The closer to election day you can release bad news for the opposition, the better.
 
This is going to be a disaster for Republicans. Before Republicans got all the anti-abortion vote, and much of the keep abortion legal vote. They are about to lose almost all the keep abortion legal vote.

And it was not a federal law. Republicans in Congress could not just reverse it. It was a Supreme Court decision based on their interpretation of the Constitution.

Fact is there is nothing in the constitution about abortion. The judges must made it all up. There is no constitutional right to abortion. Nor does the constitution say abortion should be banned. The constitution says nothing about the subject and that means, by the 10A, it is up to the states. THINK.

Correct. It is throwing it to the state level politicians. So if you want to keep abortion legal, you can no longer vote for a Republican. It used to be that you could vote for a Republican, knowing the Supreme Court would keep abortion legal.

This is kind of like the comment that only the far left really cares about it.

A lot of people who will never get an abortion or even know anyone who does will care about this one. This is an issue of liberty, and of who controls us. Abortion is symbolic for many.

This is a seismic event. It's almost impossible to tell what the effects will be - but even conservatives were dismissing the idea that Roe could ever be overturned even a few months ago. When people read this headline, they'll see a very hard turn right for the country. That will delight some, but I'd be surprised if it didn't give many independents pause on the direction of the country. As a voting population, it's rare that a move far right or left isn't met w/ a strong reaction on election day.

We often forget Roe v. Wade is a compromise. It required some earlier abortions to be legal, and some later abortions to be illegal. In a way, I can agree with that.

Think about it for a moment, is a single cell a human being? Of course not, so aborting a single cell should be legal. Is a fetus one second before birth in any real way different than a baby one second after birth? Of course not, so aborting a live fetus should be illegal one second before birth. The rest is debate.

Abortion procedures on a dead fetus should always be legal. That is just common sense. Do whatever you want to a corpse to save the mother.

yes it is debatable and my opinion is that the single cell which can only ever become a human being is as "person" as the collection 1 second before birth.

Most fertilized eggs do not become babies. Should we do more about that? Nature aborts far more pregnancies than does man, so shouldn't we mandate prenatal care? If we are going to take away women's rights over their own body to save fetuses, why stop at abortions, why not mandating government controlled prenatal care?

And what about the unfertilized eggs. They die for want of sperm. We could mandate as many of them as possible get sperm in an attempt to have as many of them survive.

we've been "doing something about that" for quite some time. By "we" I mean medical science.
the success is only as good as it is. That fertilized ova is not going to stick if it gets fertilized too early or late. No changing that, timing is everything after all.

as to the rest, all that will be done is return jurisdiction back to the states where it belonged. take this up with your state/
