Blatant hypocrisy: libs changing laws when it suits them

What the fuck?

yes it does you complete fool.

It disenfranchised black voters because we all know how they vote for the most part.

Because the Republican it helped was latino means nothing.

of course it means nothing because that would totally shoot your argument to shit showing you for the political hack you are.

LOL, yeah and when the California Democrats gerrymanderd they tried to disenfranchise white Republicans. OMG, racism!!!

They purposely disenfranchised black voters you idiot.

they purposefully disenfranchised democrat voters, moron. the fact that most of them were black was inconsequential to the texas republicans due to the fact that they protected a hispanic republican. your race based argument fell on its face a page ago.

They tageted the areas by chosing areas with lots of blacks because blacks vote for Dems in the vast majority.

They didnt get prosicuted because the DOJ was politicized by Bush.

It was the easiest way to get at the dem vote without disenfranchising Rs by mistake.

They were caught before for just the same thing.

they targeted largely democratic districts. race was not the target, just the victim. you'll also note that the state was taken to court and ruled against, yet the republicans did it anyway.

Good slam on this capitalist pig. :clink:

You have to accept and appreciate the partisan comedy that Desh provides. There are partisan hacks like me and some others and then there a whole other level where Desh goes.

Maybe I'm too much of a simpleton but it seems pretty transparent what Delay was doing. He was trying to gerrymander to get the Republicans more seats in the House. Pretty much straight out hardball partisan politics.

In Mass. the Dems are doing the same thing to keep Teddy's Democratic.

In both cases there is no principle involved its a matter of partisan politics. If someone disagrees or feels otherwise I'm open to listening (no disrespect but other than Desh since I've read already what she thinks).

Cawack you fucking idiot.

Delay and team targeted black communities in an effort to hold down the democratic vote.

That is fucking illegal and would have been prosecuted had it not been for Bush politicizing the DOJ.

facts just wont go into your heads will they?

"Justice Department lawyers concluded that the landmark Texas congressional redistricting plan spearheaded by Rep. Tom DeLay violated the Voting Rights Act, according to a previously undisclosed memo" uncovered by the newspaper. [7] The document, endorsed by six Justice Department attorneys, said "the redistricting plan illegally diluted black and Hispanic voting power in two congressional districts."

again, bullshit race baiting. If the republicans were targeting blacks and hispanics, they wouldn't have protected the single republican hispanic.

total fail

Desh, what do you think gerrymandering is? What do you think Delay was trying to do? Politics 101, he was trying to redraw the districts to be more favorable to Republicans. I'm an idiot and I understand that. It's not much more complicated than that.

its funny to watch the same dems who complained about texas now say this is ok....

that is the hypocrisy i am talking about....

cypress: i wasn't posting on messageboards in 2003 and the point of this thread is not about the right or wrong of what is taking place in mass.....it is the hypocrisy of the democratic party....so your ramblings about me are irrelevent and nothing but a deflection

whats funnier is that in 2003, I was a diehard liberal bitching about the redistricting and I still see the hypocrisy in both situations.

Bottom line:

Kennedy knew his prognosis in plenty of time to resign at the end of 2008. This would have allowed an election for his seat to be part of the regular November election last year. Massachusetts would have had a new Senator as of early January 2009 but for the hubris of one man.
