U.S. Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe vs. Wade

Now it's time for the SC to also overturn Pleyler v doe 1982. That was the infamous case where the court ordered the states to give free k-12 to illegal aliens!!! That has cost american taxpayers trillions of dollars . As in roe v wade, the courts just made it up. Nothing in the constitution says illegals have any rights let alone free schooling.
 
True, but we both know liberals and conservatives want government to do things not in the Constitution. It gives Congress the power to pass naturalization laws but there is no power to control immigration (although almost all of us favor such laws).

Right about that. Kicking out illegals should be left to the states. Nearly everything is a state issue according to the 10A.

No, it doesn't. Abortion as an issue doesn't break the top 10. Nobody gives a shit about this other than the radical Left and Right (fringe groups of miniscule size). It won't change anything.

It will certainly ramp up calls to finish the job of destroying the court by packing it.

The reason it doesn't break the top 10 is the most were complacent about it, and saw it as settled law.

This is kind of like the comment that only the far left really cares about it.

A lot of people who will never get an abortion or even know anyone who does will care about this one. This is an issue of liberty, and of who controls us. Abortion is symbolic for many.

This is a seismic event. It's almost impossible to tell what the effects will be - but even conservatives were dismissing the idea that Roe could ever be overturned even a few months ago. When people read this headline, they'll see a very hard turn right for the country. That will delight some, but I'd be surprised if it didn't give many independents pause on the direction of the country. As a voting population, it's rare that a move far right or left isn't met w/ a strong reaction on election day.

To a large degree, yes. Unlike abortion, ownership of firearms is specifically spelled out in the Constitution (2nd Amendment). There is no specific right to an abortion spelled out.

So, states can regulate gun ownership subject to the 2nd Amendment and federal law as provided under that amendment.

The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.

This is going to be a disaster for Republicans. Before Republicans got all the anti-abortion vote, and much of the keep abortion legal vote. They are about to lose almost all the keep abortion legal vote.

Sorry about playing political handicapping at a time like this, but it is an interesting move.
 
About damn time!

The Republicans have kept you stringing along for 50 years on this. Each election, they promised if you vote for us again, this time we will actually do what we promised. Each election, they kept abortion legal just to get all those keep abortion legal votes. Finally, they are going to keep their promise.

This is a state issue, not a federal one.

It was not even a federal political issue, but a constitutional issue. If you wanted to keep abortion legal, you could vote for Republicans in both the federal and state government, and do no harm. Now millions or even over time tens of millions of voters will not be able to vote Republican.

There is no need for a federal law on this.

Obviously, there will need to be a federal law for those Americans not under state authority. DC comes to mind, but there are hundreds of situations where you are under federal authority.

And it was not a federal law. Republicans in Congress could not just reverse it. It was a Supreme Court decision based on their interpretation of the Constitution.
